Frankie Caprara Takes Modified Main

LaFargeville NY… Mark Smoke and Larry Wight led the Big Block/Small Block Modifieds to Matt Burdick’s green flag. Larry Wight used the high side to his advantage to take the lead. Billy Dunn flew around Frankie Caprara and under Chris Higgins to take the third position while Ryan Bartlett sat on the back bumper of Larry Wight in the lead. Frankie Caprara moved under Chris Higgins to take the third position while Caprara continued his trek forward by getting under Dunn for third. Meanwhile, Ryan Bartlett found the bottom to his liking in turn number two to take over the lead while Frankie Caprara also took advantage under Wight to take the second position. Frankie Caprara continued to show his power as he came right to the back bumper of Ryan Bartlett as the yellow flag flew on the speedway. When racing action resumed, Frankie Caprara moved under Ryan Bartlett in the middle of turn three and four to take over the lead on the field while Billy Decker and Billy Dunn staged a battle for the third position with Decker coming out on top. Billy Decker powered around the outside of Ryan Bartlett for the second position but Bartlett came out the victor. Decker would not be slowed as he again attempted to move to the outside of Bartlett and would succeed moving into the second position. As the checkered flag waved, Frankie Caprara would pick up win number three on the season while Billy Decker and Ryan Bartlett would complete the top three.

In the DIRT Sportsman feature, Eric Mullikin and Christine Martin led the field of 20 cars to the green. Christine Martin took over the early command of the field while Eric Mullikin and Zach Amo filled out the top three. Ally Amell powered under Mike Mandigo going down the back stretch to take over the fourth position while Tom Conklin looked to enter the top five. Tom Conklin moved to the outside of Mike Mandigo to take over the third position Mike Mandigo moved under Christine Martin on a lap eight restart to take over the lead on the field while Brandon Hagan moved into third. Brandon Sweet moved under Tom Conklin coming out of turn number two to take the fourth position while Mike Mandigo continued to lead the way. Brandon Sweet moved high around Christine Martin and Brandon Hagan to take the second position. As the checkered flag dropped, Mike Mandigo would pick up the win while Brandon Sweet and Christine Martin would complete the top three.

Next week at Caprara’s Can-Am Motorsports Park will be the “Night of Champions” with the points champions being crowned in all divisions. On tap will be the DIRT Modifieds, DIRT Sportsman, DIRT Street Stocks, IMCA, Purestocks, Thunder Cars and Mod Lites.
