DANNY JOHNSON, JEFF MCGINNIS, STEVE LEWIS, DIGGER LESTER, AND NATE VETTER COLLECT FEATURE WINS AT RANSOMVILLE SPEEDWAY

Ransomville, NY - Friday, June 18, 2004 Danny Johnson of Rochester, NY took top honors last Friday night aboard the thirty lap Mighty Taco Modified feature. Johnson piloted his Orange Crush/Lisa Maroney owned machine to his fourth win of the season.

Rick Hoctor took the lead at the drop of the green with Ray Bliss Jr. in tow. The two pulled away from the field as Todd Burley and Danny Johnson charged their way to the front. Burley was able to pull to the inside of Hoctor as Johnson pulled alongside of Bliss. The top four ran side by side, two by two for the top spot with Hoctor holding off the DIRT stars through lap ten. A three wide battle as Hoctor and the Doctor emerged in the top two positions. Johnson took to the inside of Hoctor taking over the top spot on lap eleven. Burley followed suit taking over second followed by Hoctor, Bliss, and Don Spatarico. Johnson dodged a bullet as Joe Kubiniec slowed on turn fourteen heading to the pits. Burley didn't let Johnson run and hide as the top two ran away from the remainder of the field. Points leader Pete Bicknell broke into the top five on lap sixteen taking over third from Hoctor the following lap. The modified main ran clean and green with Johnson and Burley both running the topside. Johnson went on for his third win of the season aboard his Lisa Maroney Orange Crush sponsored machine. Burley, Bicknell, Spatarico, and Hoctor rounded out the top five.

Jeff McGinnis of Ransomville, NY collected his second Original Pizza Logs Sportsman main last Friday night. McGinnis took the lead away from Mark Potter in the later stages and held off persistent challenges from Kevin Wills for the checkered in the twenty-five lap main.

Mark Feor took the lead at the drop of the green followed by Dave Just, Mark Potter, John Hagerman, and Bob Winters. Just pulled to the inside of Feor on lap seven with Feor hanging on. Just did the deed once again the next lap pulling alongside of Feor for the top spot. The pair ran side by side off turn four of lap nine with Feor leading at the line. Potter, Jeff McGinnis, and Kevin Wills rounded out the top five. The topside was proving to be the quicker lane as Feor continued to hold off Just for the lead. Potter and McGinnis pulled in on the leaders as the field received the half-way signal. Just dove deep into turn three using a slide job in turn four to take over the top spot. The lead was short lived however as Just suffered a right rear tire on lap fifteen. Potter inherited the top pot followed by McGinnis, Wills, Feor, and Scott Kerwin. Potter bobbled in turn two allowing both McGinnis and Wills by. McGinnis held the lead as defending champion Scott George slowed with a flat tire. McGinnis was able to hold off a hard charging Kevin Wills for his second win of the season. Wills, Scott Kerwin, Boyd McTavish, and Kyle Inman rounded out the top five.

Steve Lewis of Ransomville, NY led the entire twenty circuits aboard the Bobcat of Buffalo ProStock feature main enroute to his first win of the season. Lewis held off persistent challenges by John Panattoni and Dave Schulz for the win.

Lewis took the early lead followed by John Panattoni, Scott Gribben, Mike Williams, Don Barnes. Panattoni pulled in on the back bumper of Lewis on lap six as Williams took over the fourth position. Top point runners Dave Schulz and Pete Stefanski were in a battle for the seventh position as Panattoni took a look on the inside of Lewis for the lead. The first caution flew on lap nine for Mike Button who spun in turn two. Lewis chose the outside lane for the restart maintaining the top spot. Williams, Joe Stefanski, and Schulz rounded out the top five. Stefanski took over the third position piloting his former championship car owned by Jay Houghton. The top three ran nose to tail as the field received the five to go signal. Contact mid field sent Gribben around on the front stretch collecting Pete Stefanski who had no where to go. Lewis held the top spot on the restart as Panattoni challenged on the lowside. Panattoni saw his great run come to an early end as he spun in turn two. On the restart contact between Lewis and Stefanski sent Stefanski into the inside moat. Stefanski slid back up into traffic collecting Mike Martin, Bill Button, Dan Shoop, and Steve Miller. Lewis was able to maintain the top spot on the restart and hold Dave Schulz off for the his first win of the season. Schulz, Williams, Barnes, and Chrysler rounded out the top five.

Digger Lester of Ransomville, NY captured his second win of the season aboard the first Previtys Motor Cars Streetstock feature main event. Lester took over the top spot on lap seven and held a five car length lead to the finish.

Webb Nashwinter and Kevin Austin brought the field down for the start with Austin taking the early lead. Steve Shoop, Lester, Roger Israel, and Derek Boyle rounded out the top five. Invader TJ Newton spun in turn two bringing out the first caution on lap four. Shoop took over the top spot on the restart using the highlane with Israel in tow. The top three put on a great show for the fans as Lester made his way to the front. Lester was able to take over the top spot on lap seven and hold on to the checkered. Roger Israel, Jaren Israel, Ricky Washburn, and Derek Boyle rounded out the top five.

Nate Vetter of Alden, NY took top honors last Friday night aboard the second Previtys Motor Cars Streetstock main event. Vetter led the entire fifteen laps holding off a persistent challenge from Dave Nichols in the closing laps.

Rookie contender Vetter led the field through the first lap followed by Dave Nichols, Kenny Washburn, Kenny Brant, and Eric Ben. Vetter, Nichols, and Washburn ran single file nose to tail through the first half of the event Lucas Jonathon broke into the top five on lap eight. The first caution flew on lap nine for Leon Pieczinski who spun in turn four after contact with Jeff Schulze. Washburn took a look inside of Nichols for second as Nichols pulled in Vetter for the lead. You could have put a blanket over the top three through the finals circuits with Vetter hanging on for his first career win. Nichols, Washburn, Jonathon, and Brant rounded out the top five.

Congratulations to Cori Webber who picked up the win in the Junior I go-kart exhibition last Friday night. Matthew Edwards and Jacob Stefanski rounded out the top three. In the Novice class, the win went to Andy Dinger followed by Timmy Kott, Cody Kott, and Kurvin Jonathon.

Pitnotes-Welcome Junior Green, Leon Pieczinski, Jeff Schulze, Joe Kubiniec, Dan Schulz, and Jon Miller whom all made their first 2004 Ransomville Speedway starts last Friday night. The best car counts of the season were enjoyed as some ninety-one cars signed in pitside. Great sportsmanship was shown in the Streetstock ranks as John Dietz lent his car to John Schultz, Steve Shoop lent his car to Dave Jowdy, and Kevin Austin lent his car to Dave Stolzenberg after these top drivers ran into problems in their qualifying heats.
