TODD BURLEY, KEVIN WILLS, ROGER CHRYSLER, LUCAS JONATHON, AND ROGER ISRAEL TAKE TOP HONORS AT RANSOMVILLE

Ransomville, NY - Todd Burley of Spencerport, NY took top honors aboard the Mighty Taco Modified feature main event last Friday night on Blue Moon Potatoes Night. Burley took the lead away from Rick Hoctor early on and then dodged a bullet with three to go as a lapped car slid up into him in turn one. Although contact was made, Burley was able to continue on for the win without missing a beat.

The bad banana-Rick Hoctor led the field to the green flag aboard the thirty lap main event. Mike Bliss, Sam Crogan, Don Spatarico, and Mark Golding rounded out the top five. Burley broke into the top five on lap four while points leader Danny Johnson broke into the top ten. Hoctor built up a sizable lead as Crogan challenged Bliss for second. Crogan was able to take over the position with Burley next to challenge Bliss. Burley pulled in on the rear bumper of Crogan mounting a challenge on lap ten for the second position. Burley secured the spot on lap eleven and quickly reeled in Hoctor in the lead. While Johnson was attempting to take over the fifth position, contact was made between Spatarico and Johnson with Johnson spinning. Spatarico was sent tail for his part in the incident.

Hoctor led the field back to green with Burley alongside. Burley was able to take over the lead position followed by Hoctor, Crogan, Bliss, and Rich Vinson. Chad Brachmann took over the fourth position on lap fifteen as Pete Bicknell passed Vinson for fifth. Once again, lady luck reared her ugly head as Hoctor headed pitside with mechanical difficulties. Burley, Crogan, Brachmann, Bicknell, and Brian Stevens ran single file as the field received the ten to go. Brachmann slipped high in turn three allowing Bicknell by for third. Johnson broke back into the top ten on lap twenty-three. Burley was able to maintain the top spot and go on for his first win of the season at Ransomville. Bicknell, Crogan, Brachmann, and Stevens rounded out the top five.

Kevin Wills of Ransomville, NY topped the field aboard the Original Pizza Logs sportsman main for the second time in 2004. Wills piloted his Wills Dairy Farm sponsored machine to the front early on and then held off persistent challenges from Scott Kerwin for the win.

Sophomore competitor Scott Just of Ransomville brought the field down for the start of the twenty-lap feature event. Dave Kubiniec took the lead as the yellow flew for Scott George who slowed exiting turn two with apparent mechanical problems. Dave Just took over the lead position on lap four followed by Bob Winters, Kubiniec, Kevin Wills, and Scott Just. Wills was a man on the move as he took over second on lap six and moved in on Just. Scott Kerwin and Jeff McGinnis broke into the top five as the crème was definitely rising to the top. Wills looked to the inside of Just taking the lead as the caution flew on lap eight. Wills chose the inside for the restart and maintained the top spot over Dave Just. McGinnis made his presence known as he took over second with Kerwin in tow. Just and Boyd McTavish rounded out the top five. Scott Just suffered a blown motor on lap ten ending his great run.

Wills set the pace for the restart with McGinnis alongside. Wills was able to maintain the top spot followed by McGinnis, Kerwin, McTavish, and Just. Wills contined to run the bottom of the race track as McGinnis chose the topside. You could have put a blanket over the top three as the field reached the lap eighteen mark. The top two of Wills and McGinnis made slight contact on the front stretch forcing McGinnis to lift. This allowed Kerwin by for second. Wills then moved to the highside around lapped traffic as Kerwin challenged on the bottom. Wills was able to hold Kerwin at bay through the checkered and pick up his second win of the season. Kerwin, McGinnis, Tony Purgarich, and McTavish rounded out the top five.

Roger Chrysler of Lewiston, NY captured his first ever feature win at Ransomville Speedway last Friday night aboard his Randys Smoke Shop sponsored Stinger chassis. Chrysler took control early on and held off persistent challenges by Steve Miller for the win aboard the Bobcat of Buffalo ProStock feature main.

A total of nineteen Prostocks took the green with Scott Gribben and Jeremy Wilson battling side by side for the top spot through lap one with Gribben taking control. Chrysler made his way into second followed by John Panattoni, Wilson, and Don Barnes. Chrysler took over the top spot on lap four putting Gribben back to second. Positions two through four ran side by side, door handle to door handle with Barnes emerging into second on lap six. Gribben was not done as he regained the position. Pete Stefanski slowed in turn one with a flat tire bringing out the caution. As the field slowed, contact between brother Mike and Dave Williams sent Dave spinning on the front stretch. Unfortunately Dave was relegated to the rear of the field as you have to maintain your position under caution. Chrysler maintained the top spot on the restart as Miller took over the second position.

As the field received the half-way signal Steve Miller pulled to the inside of Chrysler challenging for the lead. The event was slowed once again as Tom Greene spun in turn two. Chrysler led the field back to green with the single file restart but contact mid field collected the cars of Dan Shoop, Pete Stefanski, Shawn Worczak, Mike Williams, Dave Schulz, Dave Williams, Butch Zimmerman, Dan Mayer, and Kevin House. A red was needed as turn one was completely blocked. When the field went back green, Chrysler and Miller battled door to door with Chrysler running the high lane and Miller the lowside. Barnes, Gribben, and Steve Lewis rounded out the top five. The green was once again short lived as Panattoni came to rest in the front stretch moat. Race fans certainly got their monies worth as Chrysler and Miller battled tooth and nail for the lead position…both looking for their first win of the season…Chrysler for his first win ever at the big R. The pair battled side by side through the final circuits with Chrysler just edging out Miller at the line by half a car length. Miller, Barnes, Jay Houghton, and Lewis rounded out the top five.

Lucas Jonathon of the Tonawanda Indian Reservation collected his first ever feature win aboard the first Previtys Motor Cars Streetstock feature main. Jonathon led the first nine circuits and then regained the top spot a few laps later going on for his first win.

Fourteen competitors took the initial green flag with Jonathon out in front. Dave Jowdy, John Dietz, Kevin Austin, and Dave Nichols rounded out the top five. Jonathon and Jowdy pulled away from the field by the lap five mark while Nichols and Dave Stolzenberg ran third and fourth. John Dietz brought out the first caution as he spun in turn four. Jowdy took over the top spot on the restart as Stolzenberg headed pitside with a flat right rear tire.

Johnathon, Nichols, Derek Boyle, and Digger Lester rounded out the top five. On lap nine, Jonathon looked under Jowdy-the two made contact as they ran door handle to door handle. Unfortunately for Jowdy-he suffered mechanical difficulties and headed pitside. As the caution flew in turn three for a spin by Austin and Lorne Close, Nichols appeared to blow a motor going into turn one dropping a vast amount of liquid onto the racing surface. Digger Lester, Matt Gillingham, and Kenny Washburn simply had no where to go and made heavy contact ending their night. As the field resumbed under power slightly depleated, the leader Jonathon started smoking. Jonathon led the field back to green followed by Boyle and Ricky Gorhan. As the white flew, Boyle lost power coming to rest in the infield. Jonathon came home with his first career victory followed by Gorhan, Close, Boyle, and Jowdy.

Roger Israel was in the right place at the right time as he inherited the lead on lap fourteen of the fifteen lap Previtys Motor Cars Streetstock feature main #2 and went on for the win. John Schultz suffered a flat tire while leading and headed pitside as a result.

Short took the lead at the drop of the green followed by Schultz, Steve Shoop, Jaren Israel, and Kenny Brant. Short quickly pulled away from the rest of the field while Israel challenged Shoop for third. Short continued to show the way as the field ran clean and green through the half-way point. With the win in sight, Brian Sparks spun in turn one right in front of the leader Short. Short had absolutely no where to go and made contact with the right front sending him pitside with a flat tire. Schultz inherited the lead but suffered a flat tire with one lap remaining in the fifteen lap stint. Israel inherited the lead and went on for the win followed by his son Jaren Israel, Jerry Condren, Shoop, and Webb Nashwinter.

Eric Wisor won the ATV Exhibition and Terry Krentz won the Spectator One on One Race.
