Redline Raceway survived threatening weather and played host to another great night of racing. Peoples State Bank sponsored the racing action at the raceway Friday evening.

After the qualifying heats were completed the raceway held kiddie rides at intermission. The drivers and the children as well as some adults had a great time riding with their favorite Redline Racer. Redline would like to thank all the drivers who participated in the kiddie rides Friday night.

After a very short break the drivers would be called to the staging area to get lined up for their respective features. The Pure Stocks took to the track first on Peoples State Bank Night. $450 was on the line for the Pure Stock feature winner.. The 4g of Josh Parker from Lawman, NY., lead the field to the green. The field slowed for a yellow on the first lap for the 44g of Jerry Thomas also of Lawman, NY. Thomas lost the handle in turn two and collected the 72 of Terry Potrzebowski from Elmira, NY. The 44g was cradled off the raceway as he made hard contact with the outside retaining wall. The Parker machine lead the field to the green once again and lead the first lap. The second lap saw some great side by side racing action between the 29 of Bobby Maynard from Towanda, Pa., and the 01 of Brad Butcher of Granville, Pa. The 29 and 01 battled hard for the next two laps, then Butcher on lap four edged ahead of Maynard on the outside down the backstretch, and took second spot. The Parker machine was still the leader as the yellow flew again on lap 16. The 83 of Nick Robinson from Chemung, NY., turned the 72 of Potrzebowski in corner one. Both the 83 and the 72 continued but both were sent to the back of the field. Josh Parker had the field covered from there and the young driver from Lawman, NY., took his first ever feature win. Butcher taking second and the Rich Sharpsteen machine crossed the stripe in third.

The Mini Stocks roared out onto the raceway next. Natasha Robinson started on the pole and the Rich Kelly machine lined up on the outside pole. Rich Kelly lead the first circuit around but Robinson moved outside the Kelly machine on lap 2 and took the lead. Robinson from Waverly, NY., built up a straightaway advantage over the 36x of Doug Colton from Columbia X Roads, Pa. Colton had worked his way through the field and found himself in second place by lap 12. Robinson dominating the field suddenly lost the handle of the 34 machine in turn 4. Yellow waved over the field and the Robinson machine was able continue but in the round out position. Colton inherited the lead and never looked back from there. Little Dougie Colton took the win with the 36 of his father Larry Colton finishing second and the 16 of Jay Cummings from, Troy, Pa., taking third.

The Big Block Small Block Modifieds were next to try to tame the 3/8 red clay racing oval. The Bob Silvernail machine lead the field to the green. Yellow came out right away as the 55s of Shawn Reimert from Oley, Pa., and the 57 of Danny West of Mountour Falls, NY., made contact in turn two. The Reimert machine for the second week in a row would suffer a short night. Don Silvernail from Gillette, Pa., lead the first lap as the green waved over the Modified field. Brent Boyer from Bloomsburg, Pa., challanged for the lead on lap seven. Silvernail and Boyer ran door to door for two laps then Boyer moved around Silvernail on lap 13 to take the lead. Meanwhile the M16 of Mike Schane was working through the field and he would make a move inside Silvernail to take over second spot on lap 16. Yellow came out on lap 17 for the L1 of Lucas Schroth from Elmira, NY., for a spin in turn two. One lap later the Schroth machine spins again in the same manner as the lap before. The M16 on the ensuing restart made a move to the outside of Boyer to take the lead . Mike Schane picked up the victory with Boyer finishing second and the Don Silvernail machine crossing the stripe in third.

The Nationally Sanctioned I.M.C.A. Sunoco Modifieds were next to compete. Christopher Fleming of Union Springs, NY., lead the pack to the green. Fleming and Don Buchanan made contact in turn one, as a result the 44 of Dangerous Don Cole would suffer a flat tire and reitre to the pits. Sean Lias took the lead by lap seven as Scott Bennett of Waverly, NY., moved into second and Rich Talada ran in third. Bennett moved alongside the Lias machine to duel for the lead, Bennett off turn two moved outside Lias and took over the top spot. Lias fought back on the inside of Bennett but by lap eleven Bennett took the lead for good coming off turn one. Bennett pulls away from Lias on lap fourteen. Bennett never seriously challanged from there and took his second consecutive victory at Redline Raceway. Rich Talada from Chemung, NY., took second, and Mike Smith of Arkport, NY., crossed the stripe in third.

Last but not least were the Street Stocks. Wayne Baldwin from Troy, Pa., led the field to the start. The 00jr of Joe reeves lead the first lap . Yellow came out as the Eric Matthews machine spun in turn four. The restart saw the Eddie Sites machine take the lead. Al Silvernail slowed on the backstretch as he suffered a right rear flat. Eddie Sites continued to lead the field as the green waved once again. Eric Matthews in his number 11 battled hard with the 83 of Ed McKernan as they ran neck and neck laps 3 and 4. Matthews edged ahead of McKernan on lap four for second place. McKernan fought back on lap ten, he moved under Matthews to take the second spot moving Matthews to third. Eddie Sites continued to be the leader for the remaining laps and took the checkers. Mckernan finished second and Matthews crossing behind McKernan for third.
