RANDY STOUDT WINS FIRECRACKER 40 AT GRANDVIEW WHILE MIKE GULAR EARNS HIS FIRST CAREER VICTORY

BECHTELSVILLE, PA July 3, 2005 . . . Former NASCAR Late Model champion Randy Stoudt made it look somewhat easy as he drove the Rogers Auto Parts/TP Trailers #22 to victory in the Firecracker 40 Late Model Championship race picking up the $1500 first place money and his 31st career feature win at Grandview Speedway on Saturday night.
In the companion 30-lap main event for the NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series Modifieds Mike Gular of Harleysville, PA was able to pick up his first career victory with his T.H.Properties #53 Modified.
Sean Merkel went to the front of the 24 car Late Model feature field and set the pace for the first nine laps as Stoudt was busy working his way toward the front from seventh starting position. A spin by Harry Neiman on the ninth lap gave Randy Stoudt the chance to charge to the front. Once in front Stoudt had a relatively easy time of it winning the 40-lap feature.
The Pottstown racer was a comfortable margin in front of second place Jon Kellner of Lansdale. Kellner was making his first start in a Late Model in a number of years. Kellner is the career win leader in the division. Dean Schaeffer of Douglassville was able to bring his Monty’s Mulch sponsored entry home third for his best effort. Ron Kline (Green Lane) was able to come home fourth after starting in 18th position and Chuck Schutz (Pottstown), the defending Late Model champion, managed to hold on for fifth.
Mike Gular had been close to winning at Grandview Speedway several times but on Saturday night Gular took advantage of a caution on the 24th lap to gain the lead and ride to his first career victory in the 30-lap NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series Modified feature race.
Barry Readinger was the early lead with former champion Tom Mayberry going to the front of the 29 car starting field on the third lap. At 12 laps it looked as if Mayberry just might be on his way to a win but a Jeff Strunk and John Tschudy caution allowed Kenny Gilmore to put his Fred Hamm owned Modified in front of the pack. Mayberry dropped out of the feature race with mechanical ills. Veteran Gilmore was able to hold on to the top spot until a multi car tangle on the 24th lap gave Mike Gular, who had been battling with Gilmore for the lead, a chance to grab the top spot and ride to his first win. Second spot was earned by Kenny Gilmore of Fleetwood. Former champion Ray Swinehart of Bechtelsville came home third followed by Terry Meitzler (Kutztown) and Kyle Weiss (Hamburg).
A huge fireworks presentation dazzled the large crowd that was on hand for the special holiday weekend show.
Junior Grebe, Sean Merkel and Randy Stoudt won the qualifying events leading up to the Firecracker 40 for Late Models. Kelly Snyder was first in the Late Model consolation and Randy Stoudt won the Jim Brown Cash Dash making for a clean sweep night.
In the qualifying events for the Modifieds wins went to Tracy Readinger, Mike Gular, Terry Meitzler, Doug Manmiller and Jeff Strunk. Consolation wins were taken by Ryan Taylor, Jon Kellner and Kevin Hartnett. The Cheers Tavern Cash Dash was won by Terry Meitzler.
NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series Modifieds and the Late Model stock cars will be the featured attractions as part of Jesse Baro Trucking Night at Grandview Speedway on Saturday, July 9th with racing action starting at 7:30 p.m.
