STRUNK AND RANDY STOUDT ARE NASCAR FEATURE WINNERS AT GRANDVIEW

Bechtelsville, PA June 19, 2005.….Four time track champion and current NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series Modified stock car point leader Jeff Strunk (Bethel) earned his second feature win of the season on Saturday night at Grandview Speedway. The 20-lap Late Model feature race saw Randy Stoudt of Pottstown win his four of the season.

Strunk, in a new race car after destroying one a couple weeks back, was caught up in a first lap incident and had to go to the rear of the 29 car starting field after starting 15th. While Strunk was kept busy working his BPG Racing/Chad Sinon Motorsports #88 through the field Colt Harris, Todd Smith, Brian Kressley and finally Rick Schaffer swapping the lead. Schaffer, who shares the record for most career feature wins at 51 with Craig VonDohren was in front of the pack through the 15th lap.

A multi car accident gave Strunk, who had been battling with Craig VonDohren for second, a great opportunity to charge to the front on the caution restart and the four time track champion was credited with taking the lead on the 16th lap of the 30-lap main event for NASCAR Modifieds.

Once in front Strunk had a relatively easy time holding on to the top spot and crossing the finish line in first spot picking up $2200 for his efforts. Second spot went to five time track champion Craig VonDohren (Oley) coming from 14th starting spot with the Li’l Gambler.com entry. Kevin Hartnett (Perkasie), last week’s feature winner , had to qualify through a consolation run and came from 25th starting spot to finish third. Rick Schaffer (Woxall) got fourth while Tracy Readinger (Oley) was fifth.

Randy Stoudt came from fourth starting spot to trail early leader Junior Grebe. However on a caution restart after an accident on the third lap Stoudt was able to charge from third to the front of the pack in the fourth turn. Once in front the Pottstown, PA racer made it look somewhat easy as he had a comfortable lead when the checkered flag fell for the TP Trailers sponsored entry at the end of 20 laps. Junior Grebe(Boyertown) earned a strong second place finish with Quakertown’s Rick Todorow coming home third. High school student Mike Kellner (Lansdale) came home fourth with point leader Harry Neiman (Bower Beach, Delaware) coming home fifth.

Several multi car accidents dotted the night’s racing action with no injuries.

The sixteen event program was completed by 11 p.m.

Qualifying heat racers for the NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series Modifieds went to Todd Smith (Hatfield), Brian Kressley (Orefield), Jon Kellner (Lansdale), Craig VonDohren (Oley) and Rick Schaffer (Woxall). Consolation runs went to Cliff Quinn (Coopersburg), Meme DeSantis (Temple) and Tommy Sheetz (Boyertown). The Cheers Tavern Cash Dash was won by VonDohren.

In Late Model qualifiers wins were earned by Dean Stoudt (East Greenville), Brian Shuey (Orefield), Junior Grebe (Boyertown) while Mark Malcolm (Hatfield) got the consolation race win. The Jim Brown Cash Dash went to Brian Shuey.
