DAVE HEASLIP SCORES FIFTH MODIFIED WIN AT EDELWEISS SPEEDWAY

Dave ‘’The Slip’’ Heaslip had to come from behind but the veteran captured his fifth feature win of the season before a second full house in as many weeks at Edelweiss Speedway Friday night.

The Smiths Falls driver who sits on top of the standing left from post 13 to take the lead of the 18 car field midway in the 30 lapper and fought off challenges from top contenders Laurent Ladouceur and son Lee in tow who finally crossed the finish stripe in second and third spot respectively. Gatineau ’s Pierre ‘’The Snake’’ Dagenais and Peter Mantha rounded out the fast five. Heaslip, Dagenais and newcomer Eric Gauvreau of Chelsea previously won the qualifying heats.

Alexandria ’s Marc Therrien broke the ice in the Late Model Pro Stock category by coming from behind to score his first win of the season. Therrien had to overcome the tenth post position on the starting line but he rapidly gained ground and set a torrid pace to take the lead early and maintain the lead throughout the 20 lap affair. ‘’It’s becoming a difficult venture to win here at Edelweiss Speedway because of the more impressive car count that makes the competition much tougher each week.’’ said the driver of car No:17 in the post race interview from the winners circle.

Aylmer ’s Denis Gauvreau who is battling for the lead in the drivers standing was runner up and Francis Rivest completed the podium. Mitchell Jacques was fourth and leading driver Dave ‘’Bulldog’’ Bissonnette rounded out the top five. Bissonnette, Gauvreau and Cornwall Motor Speedway promoter, Ron Morin won the preliminaries.

Dominic Gauvreau who leads the drivers standing, captured his first feature win of the season in the eight cylinders by finishing well in front of Serge Lagace runner up and Richard Brady who completed the podium. Marcel Loyer and Michel Robert completed your top five. Gauvreau and Lagace also won the qualifying preliminaries.

Carl Soucy sure knows his way to the winners circle after claiming his sixth checkered flag of the season in a fast paced twelve lapper in the four cylinders. The Gatineau driver who leads the drivers standing blew past his competitors Dany Larose and Nico Leblanc in second and third spot respectively while Erin Joyce and Alain St-Pierre took home fourth and fifth money respectively for their efforts.

Francois Faubert of Hammond won the eight car field demolition derby.

Action resumes this coming Friday night at Edelweiss Speedway where a 50 lapper for modifieds is slated besides the full and regular program of exciting races. The green flag drops at 7:45 sharp.
