TIM McCREADIE THRILLS LARGE CROWD AT BREWERTON SPEEDWAY BY BEATING ALAN JOHNSON ON ALLTEL / FERRIS INDUSTRIES NIGHT

BREWERTON, NY…It appeared that Alan Johnson was enroute to his sixth victory of the season at Brewerton Speedway last Friday night. Tim McCreadie clearly had another plan. In the late going McCreadie came to life to first catch and then pass Johnson for the victory on Alltel / Ferris Industries Night. McCreadie passed Johnson on lap 33 and held on for the final two circuits for the crowd-pleasing victory.

Ryan Phelps jumped out to the early lead at the start of the Alltel / Ferris Industries DIRT Big Block Modified feature from the pole starting position. Phelps led the opening two circuits before Mike Prentice took command of the field on lap three. Prentice would lead the quality field until lap five. Phelps came back to lead again on lap six. Pat Ward became the third different leader of the event on lap seven.

After 10 circuits Ward continued to lead and was being chased in the top five by Billy Decker, Scott Prentice, Johnson and Ryan Phelps. On lap 15 Johnson took the top spot away from Ward. Tim McCreadie moved into the second spot on lap 20 and the chase was on. With 10 laps to go it appeared that McCreadie was catching Johnson and the race for the top payday was on.

After several circuits of looking for a way past, McCreadie finally passed Johnson on lap 33 just before the final caution period of the race. A two-lap shoot-out followed and Johnson tried every trick in the book to regain the lead. The younger McCreadie wasn’t about to give the lead back, as he claimed his third win of the season in the Sweetner’s Plus car at the D-shaped DIRT Demon.

Johnson had to settle for a second place finish. Decker drove a solid race to finish third with Chuck Bower and Tim Fuller completing the top five feature finishers. Chuck Hebing, Frankie Caprara, Tom Sears, Scott Prentice and Craig Terrell crossed the finish line in positions sixth through tenth respectively.

Sean Lias was the winner of the 25-lap IMCA Modified Empire State Series Race. Lias edged Bill Anderson Sr. in a close battle. Pat Pontello, George Valenti and Ron Root crossed the finish line in positions third through fifth respectively. Lias drew the pole starting position and led the entire 25-lap distance with Anderson challenging throughout.

Mark Cooper won his first ever Dwarf Car feature race at Brewerton Speedway last Friday night. Cooper was followed across the finish line in the top five by Tim Devendorf, Kreig Heroth, Wayne Younglove and Doug Williams. Cooper passed Kreig Heroth on lap seven and led the rest of the distance in the 20-lap event.

Jeff Herbert returned to the winners’ circle at the conclusion of the 15-lap Four Cylinder Stock main event. Wife Lorrie Herbert followed Jeff across the finish line. Ken Hotaling, Rick Angle and Russ Wassner completed the top five feature finishers.

Sam Curcie was the winner of the entertaining Four Cylinder Enduro feature race. Chad Guthrie, Ron Hunt, Joe Davis and Sam Carista completed the top five feature finishers in the non-stop 30-lap event.

Racing will continue this Friday at Brewerton Speedway with the DIRT Big Block Modifieds, IMCA Modifieds, Dwarf Cars and Four Cylinder Stocks all in action on Family Autograph Night. Race time is set for 7:30 p.m. For more information please call the track office at 315-668-6906 or go on line to www.brewertonspeedway.com.
