DAVE HEASLIP SCORES THIRD MODIFIED WIN IN A ROW AT EDELWEISS SPEEDWAY

Action was back on the track Friday night after mother nature cancelled out Edelweiss Speedway June 13 program and Dave ‘’The Slip’’ Heaslip sent a message to the Val des Monts faithful that he means business this season.

It didn’t take long for the Smith Falls driver to overcome the uncomfortable 11th position on the starting line. The veteran was on the gas very early and he took over the lead at lap ten after making many impressive drives through the fourteen car field and it was a done deal from then on to register the big feature win. Father and son duo Laurent and Lee Ladouceur were second and third respectively while Brian ‘’Slim’’ McDonald and Eric Gauvreau rounded out the top five in a feature that saw many cautions.

Dave Heaslip can count on a large number of fans at Edelweiss Speedway and one of them insisted on rewarding him with a 100$ purse of his own for his third victory in a row and for a great show. ‘’It was a great race and I would like to thank my sponsors, my crew and specially the guy that’s giving me the 100$’’ said Heaslip in the winners circle interview. Sophomore Lee Ladouceur and veteran Pierre Dagenais won the qualifying heats.

It was like a walk in the park for Stephane Lebrun who won the feature in the Late Model Pro Stock despite a sixth place start. The Gatineau driver took over the lead at lap seven and never relinquished it en route to his second win of the season. Newcomer Dean Ranger was very impressive at his first start and ended second while Aylmer ’s Michel Dupuis completed the podium despite a rough ride that had him leave for pit lane with a smashed vehicle in the early laps of the race. Roch Aubin was fourth while Cornwall Motor Speedway promoter Ron Morin rounded out the top five. Lebrun and Morin were also the two qualifying heat winners.

Fifteen cars took the green flag in the eight cylinders where Claude Laurin won the checkered over Serge Lagace who took home second money for his effort and Jonathan Holmes completed the podium. Martin Robert and Pembroke’s Glen McKenney who also won a leg of the qualifiers rounded out the fast five. Defending champion Dominic Gauvreau presently leads the standing and he won the second leg of the preliminaries.

They played bumper cars in the four cylinders but Gatineau ’s Nico Leblanc finally crossed the finish stripe on top after taking the lead in the dying moments of the twelve lap feature to break the ice and register his first win of the year. Martin Jacques was runner up and Dany Larose completed the winning trio. Brian Rochon led the way most of the race and he had to settle for fourth spot while Erin Joyce rounded out the top five.

Benoit Nadon of Gatineau and Serge Belair of Cantley each won a leg of the Enduro while Laurent Ladouceur’s pit crew namely Shawn and Jason Bourgon and Les Dorbeck won the Pit Stop competition.

Action resumes next Friday night, June 27 at Edelweiss Speedway where fans will be greeted with Florida ’s Green Mamba Jet and a race for female drivers on top of the regular slate. The green flag drops at 7:45 sharp.
