TIM McCREADIE CLAIMS SECOND WIN OF THE SEASON AT BREWERTON IN TYPICAL D-SHAPED DIRT DEMON SHOOT-OUT

BREWERTON, NY…Tim McCreadie claimed his second DIRT Big Block Modified win of the season at Brewerton Speedway last Friday night. McCreadie passed Pat Ward on lap 28 and held on the rest of the distance for the victory in the 35-lap main event. The win for the popular second-generation driver from Watertown, N.Y. in the Finch’s Trucking DIRT Modified was worth $1,700.

Ward raced out to the early lead at the start of the DIRT Modified feature from the outside pole starting position. After five circuits Ward continued to lead the quality field with Bob McCreadie, Jimmy Phelps, Billy Decker and Frankie Caprara following in the top five. Ward would lead the field for the opening 11 laps.

Decker took the top spot away from Ward on lap 12. Decker, the defending Brewerton Speedway Track Champion, would only lead one circuit. Ward took the lead back from Decker on lap 13. At the halfway mark Ward continued to lead and was being chased in the top five by Decker, Tim McCreadie, Phelps and Scott Prentice.

The Brewerton fans were treated to another outstanding race. Plenty of side-by-side competition was featured with most of the DIRT heavy hitters involved. With 25 laps complete Ward was still the race leader and was followed by Tim McCreadie, Decker, Chuck Bower and Prentice.

On lap 28 McCreadie was finally able to slip by Ward. The duo raced together for many laps before the lead changed. During the closing laps Ward stayed right with McCreadie, but the lead would not change again. Ward had to settle for second, his best finish of the season at Brewerton. Prentice, Decker and Phelps completed the top five feature finishers.

Mike Chilson won his first IMCA Modified feature race of the season last Friday night. The entire 20-lap event was caution free. Pete Neff, Sean Lias, Billy Dunn and Mike Smith followed Chilson across the finish line. Chilson passed Neff on the final circuit in the most entertaining IMCA Modified feature of the season.

Tod Simons won his fourth Dwarf Car feature race of the season last Friday night. Dan Williams, Joe Garafolo, Matt Magner and Darren Forbes followed Simons across the finish line. Simons took the lead away from Magner on lap five and led the rest of the distance in the 20-lap event.

Chuck Powelczyk recorded an emotional win in the Four Cylinder Stock feature last Friday night. Prior to the race a special tribute to Russ Cusson took place. Cusson passed away one week prior at the track after competing in a heat race. Powelczyk was determined to win the main event as a special honor to his fallen teammate. Roger West Sr., John West, Chris Smith and Mark Warner completed the top five feature finishers behind Powelczyk.

Racing will continue this Friday at Brewerton Speedway with the final Family Autograph Night of the season. In action will be the DIRT Modifieds, an Empire State Series Race for the IMCA Modifieds, Dwarf Cars and Four Cylinder Stocks. Action will start at 7:30 p.m. For more information please call (315) 668-6906. On line information is available at www.brewertonspeedway.com.
