CAPRARA BEATS THE BEST AND CLAIMS FIRST EVER DIRT BIG BLOCK MODIFIED FEATURE WIN AT BREWERTON ON PARTS PLUS NIGHT
BREWERTON, NY…Frankie Caprara claimed his first ever DIRT Big Block Modified feature win at Brewerton Speedway last Friday on Parts Plus Night. Caprara truly earned the victory at the D-shaped DIRT Demon, as the youngster from Watertown, N.Y. held off several challengers from the talented field in the late going. The win for the driver of the Manheim Auto Auctions DIRT Modified was worth $1,700.
Mike Payne jumped out to the early lead at the start of the Parts Plus DIRT Modified feature from the pole starting position. Payne would lead the opening two circuits. Caprara took the lead away from Payne on lap three. With five circuits complete Caprara was being followed in the top five by Pat Ward, Payne, Tim Fuller and Jimmy Phelps.
Caprara was running the top side of the track to perfection and at the halfway point he was being followed in the top five by Billy Decker, Fuller, Ward and Alan Johnson. Throughout the last half of the race Caprara had to hold off Brewerton’s best. Johnson, Fuller and Decker all had the opportunity to take the top spot away from Caprara.
It didn’t matter to Caprara who was challenging, as he never made a mistake in the closing laps. Caprara went on to the popular win with six-time feature winner Johnson having to settle for second. Fuller, Decker and Ward completed the top five feature finishers.
Sean Lias won his seventh IMCA Modified feature of the season last Friday night. Lias came from the 19th starting position to earn the victory. Pete Neff, Bill Anderson Sr., Les Hubbard and Jeff Cardinale completed the top five feature finishers behind Lias. Lias took the lead away from Mike Smith on lap six and led the rest of the way in the 20-lap event.
Tim Burdick won his first ever Dwarf Car feature last Friday night. Jeff Isabell, Dan Boyce, Steve Miller and Lowell Zehr completed the top five feature finishers behind Burdick. Burdick led the entire 20-lap distance in the main event.
Chuck Powelczyk won his third Four Cylinder Stock feature of the season last Friday night. Jeff Herbert, Chris Smith, Roger West Sr. and Tim Koch completed the top five feature finishers being Powelczyk. Powelczyk took the lead away from Herbert on lap seven and led the rest of the way in the 15-lap event.
Veteran driver Sam Carista claimed the win in the Four Cylinder Enduro feature. Mitch Pietrowicz, Jerry Herbert, R.J. Hoag and Jason Spalding completed the top five finishers behind Carista. A total of 34 cars started the event.
Racing will continue this Friday at Brewerton Speedway with the DIRT Big Block Modifieds, IMCA Modifieds, Dwarf Cars and Four Cylinder Stocks all in competition.
