ALAN JOHNSON WINS FIRST OF 2001 AT BREWERTON SPEEDWAY

BREWERTON, NY…Alan Johnson claimed the win in the regular season opening 35 lap DIRT Modified feature at Brewerton Speedway Friday night. Johnson moved up steady from his eighth starting position to earn the win. In the late going he was able to hold off the challenge of Tim Fuller to record the win worth $1,700.

Scott Prentice raced out to the early lead at the start of the DIRT Modified main event from the outside pole starting position. After five laps Prentice continued to lead the way over Fuller, Billy Decker, Johnson and Frankie Caprara. Prentice held the lead through lap 10, before Fuller wrestled the top spot away.

Fuller would only own a brief lead, with Prentice taking the top spot back on lap 13. At the halfway mark of the 35 lap DIRT Modified feature Prentice continued to lead and was being chased in the top five by Fuller, Johnson, Decker and Chuck Bower.
