BOB McCREADIE WINS SECOND STRAIGHT ON NEW ENGLAND FINANCIAL/BURDICK DODGE NIGHT

BREWERTON, NY…Bob McCreadie claimed his second straight and third win of the season at Brewerton Speedway last Friday night. The event was clearly the best race of the year at the D-shaped DIRT Demon. McCreadie came from the 13th starting position on Friday the 13th to claim the win in the New England Financial/Burdick Dodge DIRT 35 lap main event. The veteran from Watertown, N.Y. earned $1,700 for the hard fought victory.

Frankie Caprara raced out to the early lead at the start of the New England Financial/Burdick Dodge DIRT Modified feature from the outside pole starting position. Caprara set a fast pace from the start and led the first four laps of the main event. Jimmy Phelps took the lead away from Caprara on lap five. Phelps, Steve Hulsizer, Caprara, Scott Prentice and Chuck Hebing raced in the top five positions after five laps.

It was on lap nine when Bob McCreadie took the lead away from Phelps. McCreadie came charging from the 13th starting position to the lead in just nine laps. The large crowd in attendance was treated to vintage Bob McCreadie, just flying around the D-shaped DIRT Demon. McCreadie wasn’t the only one that came moving through the field, however. Billy Decker, Alan Johnson and Tim McCreadie were right behind.

A long stretch of green flag racing found the top four running in and out of lapped traffic. Decker continued to follow McCreadie, but the veteran was always able to hold on to the lead. The race was in doubt until the drop of the checkered flag, but it was Bob McCreadie who recorded his 82nd career win at Brewerton in the Kinney Drug Stores DIRT Modified. Decker had to settle for second with Tim McCreadie, Johnson and Prentice completing the top five feature finishers.

Tommy Paige won his first ever IMCA Modified feature at Brewerton Speedway last Friday night. Paige was followed across the finish line by Tony Buffa, Brian House, Bob Bradt and Johnny Hill. Paige took the lead away from Buffa on lap 19 of the 20 lap event. Tony Finch led the opening five laps of the main event. Buffa led from lap 6 through 18.

Troy VanAllen won his first Dwarf Car Feature of the season last Friday night. VanAllen won out over Barry Virts, Tony Buffa, Bob Magner and Tod Simons. Van Allen took the lead away from Magner on lap 11 and led the rest of the way in the 20 lap contest.

Brian Evenden won his fourth Four Cylinder Stock feature of the season last Friday night. Evenden was followed in the finish by Walt Van Epps, Harvey Calkins Jr., Bob Whipple and Chris Smith. Evenden took the lead away from Van Epps on lap three. Evenden then went on to another win.
