DECKER FINALLY ABLE TO BREAK INTO THE WINNERS CIRCLE AT THE D-SHAPED DIRT DEMON ON MAGEE TRAILER/B104.7 NIGHT

BREWERTON, NY…Billy Decker has had a consistent season at Brewerton Speedway in 2001, but a feature win has eluded the former Track Champion. That all changed last Friday night when Decker claimed the win in the caution free 35-lap DIRT Modified feature on Magee Trailer Sales/B104.7 Radio Night. The win for the Adam Ross DIRT Modified team was worth $1,700.

Jim Burke raced out to the early lead at the start of the Magee Trailer Sales/B104.7 DIRT Modified feature from the outside pole starting position. Burke led the opening two laps of the main event. Jimmy Phelps took the top spot away from Burke on lap three. Tim Fuller became the third different leader of the event on lap four. Fuller wasted no time in moving up from his eighth starting position.

At the halfway mark of the 35-lap feature race Fuller continued to lead with Decker, Phelps, Chuck Hebing and Alan Johnson following in the top five. Pat Ward, Bob McCreadie, Tim McCreadie, Chuck Bower and Dale Planck occupied positions sixth through tenth at the halfway mark. Fuller and Decker were involved in a great battle for the lead in working in and out of lapped traffic.

Both Fuller and Decker were putting on quite a show on the fast Brewerton surface. It was on lap 26 when Decker finally got the lead away from Fuller. In the final laps Fuller was looking for a opening of his own, but it never came. Decker went on to his first win of the season at Brewerton. Fuller had to settle for second with Phelps, Johnson and Hebing completing the top five finishers in the caution free race.

Brian Evenden won his fifth Four Cylinder Stock feature race of the season last Friday Night. Evenden won out over Kevan Cook, Harvey Calkins Jr., Steve Coit and Chris Bargabos. Joe Briere led the opening lap of the feature. Evenden took the lead on lap two and led the rest of the way in the 15-lap event. Evenden wasted no time in moving up from the ninth starting position.

Tony Buffa won his second IMCA Modified feature of the season last Friday night. Brian House, Johnny Hill, Tommy Paige and John Matyjasik completed the top five feature finishers behind Buffa. On lap five Buffa took the lead away Paige and led the rest of the 20 lap distance.

Buffa also won the Dwarf Car feature race. Daren Forbes, Todd Simon, Wayne Younglove and Barry Virts followed Buffa on this occasion. Buffa took the lead on lap six from Forbes and led the rest of the 20-lap distance.
