BEAMER, HUNTER AND WYERS SHINE TO BRIDGEPORT VICTORIES

BRIDGEPORT, NJ (April 15, 2005) – Williamstown, NJ’s Young Hot Shoe Tommy Beamer beat the best in the business on Friday Night at the Bridgeport Speedway to grab his first Modified victory at the 5/8th mile oval.

“This car was awesome, I never even had to lift,” Beamer gloated of his #31 Dirt Wheels race car. “I knew that if I could stay smooth nobody could pass us.”

Beamer, who started in the third position, shot to the front at the sight of the initial green flag with Richie Pratt and Kevin Hirthler following close behind. On Lap 8 a hard charging Billy Pauch brought his Team 1 Racing Bicknell into the 3rd position with Jimmy Horton right on his tail. Pauch appeared to be the car to beat until motor problems sidelined his machine just 2 laps later. With Beamer leading the way Horton blew past Hirthler on the restart and pulled underneath Pratt coming out of turn 2 setting his sights on the leader. It was a nail biter for Beamer’s #31 clan as a lap 17 restart seemed to even the field but Beamer would have none of that as he held off the All-Time Winningest Modified driver and sailed across the finish line. Horton settled for second with Richie Pratt, Jimmy Chester and Kevin Hirthler chasing.

Todd Kuhl of Doylestown, PA credited Ryan Kerr’s setup advice during victory lane celebrations for the newly created GM Crate Sportsman Division. Kuhl started 3rd and ran side-by-side with Mike Fattori until mechanical problems sidelined the Hooked on the Outdoors #5F. Trailing Kuhl at the line were John Micek, John Bangs, Forrest Peters and rookie Chuck Hopkins.

Gary Hunter was the victor of the 600cc Micro Sprint race with 2004 Champion Glenn Heverin, Rick Steif, Phil Meisner Jr., and George Ulmer rounding out the top five.

Twenty 270cc Micro Sprints raced around the speedway with Jim Wyers grabbing the win in his #84 Wyers Carpentry entry. Following Wyers were Jeff Hartman, John Blanda, Jesse Hartman and Jimmy Carpenter.

The 4 Cylinder Stock race went non-stop with 2004 Champion Jeff Walls just barely gaining the win over Dave Bentley, Sr. Dave Bentley, Jr., Warren Stradley and Brian Crisman followed behind. Walls “double-dipped” as he picked up an additional $50 in the CB Graphics’ 4 Cylinder Dash for Cash.

On Saturday, April 16th, the Big Block Modifieds return with a 25 lap event. The Sportman, Outlaw Stocks and the GM Rookie Sportsman classes will also be competing with full qualifying races and exciting feature events. Admission is $15 for adults, $10 for students, $5 for kids, and, as always, 4 and under are free. The grandstands open at 3:00 p.m. and the first green flag waves at 5:00 p.m.

Next Friday Night, April 25, another full five-division card will be headlined by the 358 DIRT Modifieds in a 25 Lap feature event. Also in action on the 5/8th track will be the GM Crate Sportsman, with the 270cc and 600cc Micro Sprints and 4 Cylinder Stocks running a full program on the ¼ mile track. Power Motorsports presents a 600cc Micro Sprint “Dash for Cash.” Admission is $15 for adults, $10 for students, $5 for kids, and, as always, 4 and under are free.
