RICKY ELLIOTT MAKES MOST OF HIS WINGATE CLASSIC VICTORY WITH

ANOTHER VICTORY AT BRIDGEPORT SPEEDWAY (20 Laps)

Ricky Elliott scored win number 3 this season on Saturday June

12th, just days after he schooled the Northern invaders in the

George Wingate Classic Tuesday night. Elliott showed the entire

field how to handle Bridgeport’s excellent track conditions while

Doug Hoffman finished second backing up his most recent win on

May 22. Elliott and Hoffman are neck and neck in point standings

with neither driver giving up any ground from week to week.

Duane Howard, Rick Laubach (Feature winner May 29), and Wade

“the Flying Farmer” Hendrickson rounded out the top five finishers.

MARK BITNER PUTS LAST RUN BEHIND TO SCORE A WIN AT BRIDGEPORT

(20 Laps)

After finishing 20th on May 29th, Mark Bitner needed a good run

to stay in contention for the Jasper Sprint Championship. This

weekend Mark Bitner did just that. He beat points leader Jeff Mueller

and kept recent feature winners Steve Schmidt and John Wyers at

bay to score a much-needed win in the consistently competitive

Jasper Sprint Division. Steve Schmidt finished 2nd while Matt

Beasley took home 3rd. 4th place went to Jeff Mueller, followed

by John Wyers in 5th.

SAM WESCOTT TURNS HIS SEASON AROUND WITH A VICTORY IN THE

SUNOCO SPORTSMAN DIVISION AT BRIDGEPORT (20 Laps)

Sam Wescott had to be grateful that Richie Pratt Jr wasn’t

breathing down his neck on the last lap of Saturday night’s

Sportsman feature. Pratt’s come from behind to win on the last lap

in a majority of his victories. Wescott did have Drew Ricco to

deal with, but he proved he had what it would take to cross

the finish line first. The past few weeks have handed Wescott

a few sub-par finishes, making this victory even sweeter.

He’s in the top five in point standings and is making a charge

for the championship. The finishing order in the Sunoco Sportsman

Feature was: Sam Wescott, Drew Ricco, John Pursell, Mark

Schweibinz, and Kevin Collins.
