PATIENCE THE KEY FOR RICKY ELLIOTT IN MOST RECENT MODIFIED WIN

On lap 14 of 25 in the Big Block Modified Feature at Bridgeport Speedway Ricky Elliott made his way to the front giving leader Jimmy Chester a run for his money. Chester ran well managing to hold off Brian Truppi who led the first 12 laps but Chester’s hopes of ending his three year victory drought ended as he slid high between turns 1 and 2 allowing Elliott the inside line. Jimmy Chester took the blame for his well-deserved second place finish during post-race interviews. “The hot rod was fast, driver just didn’t have it. We’ll be back next week”. The inside worked well for Elliott where most of his passing took place. “The car was great; I stuck to my guns knowing we set the car up for the bottom.” The win gave Ricky Elliott his 25th career modified victory at the speedway. Elliott was followed by Jimmy Chester (44), Jamie Mills(30), Duane Howard (126), and Wade Hendrickson (2).

THE MICHAEL BROTHERS DO IT AGAIN IN THE ADVANCE AUTO PARTS URC SPRINT FEATURE AT BRIDGEPORT SPEEDWAY

Curt Michael collected his second win of the season as brother Sean brought home a second place finish, both having strong cars early on. No hard feelings between the Michael brothers, just pure desire to win. “Curt took me to school tonight. I wish we had one more lap” admitted Sean. The 2004 season has found the two brothers back to back in standings, mirroring their 1-2 finish Saturday night. Sean Michael started 6th and kept in the top 5 throughout the 25 lap race. Curt came from 8th to take the lead from Scott Pursell when Pursell blew a tire on lap 19. The 1998 former URC champ never looked back as he earned his 20th career victory, the first repeat winner for the URC 2004 season. Michael had positive comments on the changes made to the track at Bridgeport. “Let me say this first, this is the old Bridgeport that I knew and loved. The track is beautiful, I could pass anywhere.” Proof of excellent track conditions were manifested when the sprints turned the quickest laps of the season. Sean finished 2nd with Dave Ely (defending champ), Brian Seidel, and Cliff Brian scoring top 5 finishes.
