GAUDET WINS SECOND OF YEAR AT BROCKVILLE
BROCKVILLE-Randy Gaudet was fast in his heat race on Friday night at the Brockville Ontario Speedway, however he told his pit crew to change everything anyway. The strategy proved the driver is the best judge of his car as Gaudet powered to his second Modified feature win of the year.
Gaudet used a power move on the outside down the front straightaway and into turn 1 to blow by early leader Chris Herbison and take the lead on lap 10. The changing back of the shocks and suspension set up at intermission worked flawlessly the rest of the way in the 30 lap feature. Stephane LaFrance got better as the feature wore on but settled for second spot followed by Herbison, Jeff Sykes and Bill Gill.
Lance Willix brought his a game for the 20 lap Sportsman main. Willix blasted into the year with laps under 16 seconds around the quarter mile and romped to victory over Tim Van Brocklin. Ben Tucker was a couple of car lengths back in third followed by Dave Wilgosh and Jason Potter.
Roger Bushey in just his second week out with his new Novice car grabbed the victory in the 15 lap feature. Adam Turner survived a wild lap 11 which left a gas tank on the track at one point to finish second. Barry Baker, Sheldon Hoogwerf and Ryan Poole rounded out the fast five.
Kurtis McPhee survived a last lap restart to hold off a fast closing Billy Woodward Jr. for his sixth Rookie feature of the year. Brad Kirkland was third followed by Gerry O and Dave Blue.
The Speedway will be back in operation on Friday Night, August 1st 25th at 7:30 pm for full race program featuring all four divisions along with the always popular big rig time trials.
