Gaudet, Earl and Van Winden win again at Brockville

BROCKVILLE-Randy Gaudet is enjoying driving for someone else these days. The Gaudet express has been a freight train that no one has been able derail so far this season at Brockville Ontario Speedway. The North Augusta driver took his fourth straight feature on Friday night at the BOS.

Gaudet driving a brand new car owned by Bill Plooy instead of his familiar red and white machine has been untouchable in 2001. As usual, he started at the back of the field charged through the field passing Kyle Wilson with a power move on the outside of turn 4 and then went onto win the 20 lap Sportsman main event. Wilson was second followed by Lance Willix, Adam Moore and Pernie Banks.

Gaudet isnt the only one on a roll these days, Randy Earl of Brockville won his third straight Pro Stock feature. Earl took over the lead on lap 4 and was never seriously challenged after that. Eric Gauvreau was second in a rare BOS appearance with Greg Hale, Denis Gauvreau and Mitchell Jock rounding out the top 5.

Kees Van Winden keeps winning in the rookie class. He also became a third time winner in 2001 getting past Don Hall early in the 10 lap event and then holding Hall off again late for the triumph. Francois Rivest was third.

Jeff Sykes run of bad luck finally came to an end. The Edwards NY driver made a nifty 3 to first place move in turn 1 on lap 2 to take the lead and eventually win the 30 lap Modified main. Sykes actually had almost a half lap lead in the middle stages of the event. However a threesome of Ben Tucker, Dan Jalbert and Lee Gill were able to track him down in the closing laps. Tucker managed to put a wheel under Sykes once in turn 1 but Sykes was able to hold off the challengers. Tucker was second, Gill third, Jalbert fourth and Todd Stewart fifth, his second straight top 5.

Charles Barkley was a popular winner in the Novice event. Everytime it looked like the Mallorytown driver was about to give up the top spot the caution flag came out. Then he was able to hold off Dave Austin by a car length at the checkered. Tammy Jalbert was third. George Herbison took the special 6 lap Modified mechanics race.

The next event at Brockville Ontario Speedway is a special show on Tuesday night, June 26th. The Sunoco Race Fuels Super DIRT Series for 358 Modifieds will bring it’s travelling road show to town for the Coca-Cola Classic 100. Dirt Legend Dr. Danny Johnson will try to defend his title at the fast quarter mile oval. There will also be a special 50 lap Mr. Radiator Pro Stock series event for the Pro Stocks as well. The green flag drops at 7:30.
