JOHNSON, MARTIN, BOYLE, MORRIS, AND TUTTLE PICK UP WINS AT RANSOMVILLE

RANSOMVILLE, NY...June 22nd, 2001...Ransomville Speedway escaped mother nature's wrath last Friday night as Johnstons Restaurant of Ransomville presented a full card of racing along with a go-kart exhibition. Danny Johnson of Rochester, NY took his Speedway Park/NAPA/Roaring 20's sponsored Troyer machine to the front of the field last Friday night aboard the Mighty Taco 358 Modified feature event. Johnson took the lead just before the half way point from Todd Gordon and quickly distanced himself from the remainder of the field, winning by a full straight away.

Rick Hoctor led the first circuit before Gordon took over the top spot. Within laps, both Todd Burley and Johnson had made their way into the top five and were pressuring Gordon for the lead. You could have thrown a blanket over these three as put on a whale of a show for the fans. On lap 16, Johnson switched from the high lane to the bottom groove and made the pass on Gordon for the lead. The following circuits found Johnson comfortably out in front with a great race taking place for second between Gordon, Burley, Billy Krull, and Vic Coffey. Gordon won the battle for second place as he followed Johnson across the line. Burley, Krull, and Coffey rounded out the top five. Rick Hoctor enjoyed one of his better finishes in recent seasons as he came home seventh. Heat winners were Sam Crogan and Coffey.

The Queenston-Lewiston Duty Free Sportsman event found the fourth different winner as Youngstown native, Don Martin, captured the 20 lap event. Martin took the lead away Dan Lacey and had to endure a total of six caution periods before finally capturing the checkered.

Scott George ran a strong second followed by Randy Chrysler, Stewart Friesen, and Kevin Wills. Defending track champion, Chad Brachmann, was caught up in a mid race incident which rendered him pitside and down two laps before the half way point. Heat winners were Jeff McGinnis, Martin, and George. The consi winner was Bob Winters.

The NAPA Prostock winner was Jason Boyle of Middleport, NY. Piloting his Alfred State/Boyle Boys NAPA sponsored #44, Boyle took the lead away from defending track champion Pete Stefanski with less than two laps remaining. Boyle closed the gap on points leader Joe Stefanski after Stefanski was involved in an early race incident. Stefanski came home in second followed by Dan Shoop, Dan Mayer, and Joe Stefanski. Stefanski continues to lead the way in the points battle by some 18 markers over Boyle. Roger Chrysler led the early going and had mechanical problems late in the event which resulted in him heading pitside. Heat winners were Roger Chrysler and Pete Stefanski.

The Fish's Automotive first Streetstock feature win went to Kirk Tuttle. Tuttle of Wilson, NY took the lead away from Shawn Graham in the early going and won by a comfortable margin. Ken Washburn, Matt Gillingham, Roger Israel, and Bill Wruck rounded out the top five.

The Fish's Automotive second Streetstock feature win was won by Alex Morris, his second of the season. Morris took the lead away from Dan Baughman on a early race restart and was never seriously challenged after that point. Jerry Condren advanced to second at the finish followed by Don Barnes, Ben Hornquist, and Wayne Close. Heat winners were Baughman, Tuttle, and Dave Nichols.
