Dingwall wins second of Modified career At Brockville
BROCKVILLE-It took Chico Dingwall 11 years to win his first Modified feature last August at Brockville Ontario Speedway. He only had to wait 10 more months for win number 2. The Brockville driver led all 30 laps in taking the 358 Modified main Friday night at the BOS.
Dingwall started on the pole but was tested a couple of times by Todd Stewart who was turning laps just over 15 seconds around the quarter mile oval as he worked his way through the field. Each time, there was a restart Dingwall used a different tactic keeping Stewart and the rest of the drivers off balance. When asked in victory lane if this was as good as that first win last year, Dingwall responded with a big smile on his face. "even better". Stewart was second followed by Jeff Sykes, Brian MacDonald and Boomer MacIntryre.
The freight train named Randy Gaudet continues to roll through the Sportsman ranks. Gaudet won his fourth straight feature with a couple of nifty moves in traffic. He took the lead on lap 10 trapping then leader Lance Willix behind a lapped car and then cruised away with the victory. Pernie Banks was a distant second followed by Jim Vock, rookie Kyle Dingwall and Adam Moore. A six car crash in turn 1 on the third lap took out a number of contenders.
Brockville’s Randy Earl was tops again amongst the Pro Stocks. Earl won a survival of the fittest 15 lap event over Greg Hale pleasing his sponsors, Highway 29 Mr. Gas who also sponsored the night’s program. Jason Reimersma scored his best finish ever in the division coming home third.
Shawn Hodge of Brockville won his first Novice feature. Hodge started up front and led all 15 laps withstanding a furious last lap challenge by John Simmons. Simmons tried so hard that he ended up in the infield on the final circuit. Roger Bushey took second spot followed by Art Brown.
The Rookie class honours went to Kees VanWinden of Moorewood. Van Winden took the lead early on a rather slippery track and outdistanced Chris Tremblay and Martin Walter.
The next event at Brockville Ontario Speedway is a special Father’s Day Kanes Towing 200 lap Enduro. The green flag drops at 2 pm on Sunday afternoon, June 17th. The next regular event is a full race program on Friday, June 22nd at 7:30.
