Jacobs takes brand new car to victory lane

BROCKVILLE-Kyle Jacobs didn’t take long to dial his new race car in. The Hogansburg NY driver won first time out in his new TEO chassis on Friday night at Brockville Ontario Speedway. It was also his first BOS win ever and gave him a guaranteed spot for October’s Syracuse 150.

The youngster had to work for the victory. He picked up the lead with a great outside move on a lap 8 restart, only to have Chico Dingwall of Brockville drive by on lap 19. However, Jacobs came right back by Dingwall on lap 25 and held on the rest of the way for the win. Bill Mullin of Iroquois was second at the finish, with points leader Lee Gill of Lefargeville NY third driving a car borrowed from Scott Parliament, just in front of Dingwall and Jeff Sykes of Edwards NY.

The Pro Stock feature was quick and to the point. Todd Fletcher of Renfrew started fourth took the lead and the first lap and led all 15 green flag laps on route to the victory. Mark Therrien of Alexandria charged through the field to finish second with Brockville’s Randy Earl in third.

The 20 lap Sportsman main saw almost every car in some kind of a mishap. Randy Gaudet of North Augusta was an exception to the rule. Gaudet took over the lead on restart with 7 laps remaining and cruised to his third straight win. Joe Cook of Deferriet NY was second with Gil Evoy of Athens rounding out the top 3.

The Novice division ran a special 20 lap feature with rookie John Mulder of Spencerville leading all the way for his first victory. It capped a good night for Mulder who also won the Novice dash for cash earlier in the program. Hardington’s Dave Austin was second just in front of Todd Raabe who came from his 14th starting spot to finish in 3rd.

The BOS returns to action with a regular program next Friday night including a special spectator bag race. The green flag drops at 7:30
