Dingwall wins first after 11 years of trying

BROCKVILLE-It took Keith Chico Dingwall, all his might to fight back the tears on Friday night at Brockville Ontario Speedway. The Brockville driver had just accomplished something he had been striving for the last 11 years, his first ever 358 Modified feature win. Just seconds after the 30 lap victory fellow competitors and his family were rushing to congratulate the likeable redheaded pilot for his hard earned achievement.

Dingwall passed Ron Evoy of Brockville coming out of turn 2 with four laps to go as the two cars briefly touched. The contact sent Evoy off course after the rookie Modified driver had led the first 26 circuits. Dingwall then pulled away from the field for the victory. Jeff Sykes of Edwards, NY was second followed by Kyle Jacobs of Hogansburg NY. Points leader Lee Gill of LeFargeville NY recovered from a mid race spin to charge back through the field for fourth with Scott Parliament of Clay NY fifth.

Charles Barkley of Mallorytown had quite a night. He captured both the Dash for Cash and the 10 lap Novice feature taking over the lead on lap 5 and going the distance. Roger Bushey of Ogdensburg NY was second followed by a hard charging Todd Raabe of Pembroke who started 14th and finished 3rd.

Randy Earl of Brockville took advantage of the way the traffic worked to go into the lead at lap 8 and pull away for the Pro Stock feature win. Points leader Mark Therrien of Alexandria was second with Kingston’s Travis Andrews the early leader in the race putting in a solid third place performance.

Theresa NY’s Lance Willix was the class of the field in the 20 lap Sportsman tilt. Willix won going away from Ben Tucker of Redwood NY. Rob Galloway of Hammond NY in his maiden voyage at Brockville was third with Lee Miller of Pembroke and Joe Cook of Deferriet NY rounding out the top 5.

Next Friday night will feature the second appearance of the season by the powerful and entertaining Empire Super Sprints at Brockville. They will be joined by the Pro Stocks and Novices for a 7:30 program.
