FAIGLE TAKES OVER FIRST EVER ESS WIN AT THE BOS

BROCKVILLE-August 27th was a night to remember for R.C. Faigle of Manlius, New York. The fourth year sprint car pilot took the lead with four laps to go and claimed the 5th annual Empire Super Sprints event at Brockville Ontario Speedway. Faigle followed the victory with a win dance atop the wing of his superfast number 21 spint car.

Craig Keel of Weedsport, N.Y. rocketed through the field to finish second in the 20 lap which featured just one caution flag on the first lap. Local favorite and long time Modified driver Rick Wilson of Joyceville delighted the local crowd as he ran as high as second before settling for a strong third place showing. Wilson got the fans on their feet earlier in the night as well by capturing the traditional ESS dash for cash.

Mark Hitchcock of Kingston won for the brand new owners and sponsors of the 95 modified. Hitchcock led all the way in a caution free affair taking his second feature of the year over a fast closing Danny O Brien of Kingston. The second place showing unofficially gives the Pocket Rocket a two point lead over Watertown’s Frank Caprara heading into the final points night on September 3rd. Bath’s Todd Stewart rounded out the top three.

North Augusta’s Randy Gaudet padded his lead atop the Sportsman point standings with a convincing win. Gaudet powered around Rich Hall of Athens on the outside in the final quarter of the event and then pulled away. Mr. consistency Matt Butler of Canton, N.Y followed Hall across the finish line.

A wild and wooly Novice event went to Todd Raabe of Pembroke as he stayed out of trouble by leading all the way in a caution filled affair. Athen’s Dan Hellyer and Dave Austin finished second and third respectively. Next Friday night will be Fan appreciation night with an admission of 20 dollars a car load and also double features in all four divisions.
