LAFRANCE HOLDS OFF CAPRARA FOR SECOND WIN OF THE SEASON AT THE BOS

BROCKVILLE-There was another roof dance in victory lane on Friday night at Brockville Ontario Speedway. That means that Brockville's Stephane LaFrance picked up his second win of the season. The victory in the 30 lap event also gave the "Little Hammer" a guaranteed starting spot for Super DIRT Week in October in Syracuse, N.Y.

LaFrance started up front and led the entire race but had to make some nifty moves in heavy traffic to hold off a charging 17 year old Frankie Caprara who was half a car length behind at the finish. The second place showing was enough for Caprara to open up a slim points lead over Kingston's Danny O Brien who was fourth. The two entered the night in a tie for the top spot. Paul Moreland of Brockville was a solid third.

Matt Butler of Canton N.Y. was a second time winner for the season copping the 20 lap Sportsman main. The race was stopped around lap 6 after a four car crash that resulted in heavy damage to Portland's Pernie Banks car and took out Rich Hall of Athens for the evening as well. Lance Willix of Theresa, N.Y. was second followed by Athen's Sam Vanderlinden.

Darryl Steele continues to dominate in the Pro Stock division picking win number four of the year. Defending track champion Randy Earl of Brockville came up with his best run in weeks but couldn't catch the Renfrew driver. Lee Ladouceur of Alexandria rounded out the top three.

The Novice event was also stopped at one point after Shawn Hodge's car wound up on top of another vechile in turn 4. No one was injured and New York pilot Earl Simmons scored his first win of the year. Dave Wilgosh of Lyn and New York's Roger Bushey were second and third respectively.

Next week features the return of the Empire State Sprints to the BOS. The speedway has also rescheduled carload night to Friday, September 3rd.
