Peters and McDonald both make it two in a row at Cornwall

CORNWALL-August has been a month to remember for both PJ Peters and Brian McDonald. Both drivers are two for two so far this month at Cornwall Motor Speedway after their victories on Sunday night.

Peters used a restart on lap 46 to go from third position to the lead and then held off a determined Clayton Benedict to win the final event in this year’s Mr. Radiator series for Pro Stocks. Joey Ladouceur finished in third spot to clinch the 4 race series crown for the second straight season. Roy Delormier and Stephane Lebrun rounded out the top five.

McDonald meanwhile stormed to the front in the early going then trapped leader John Lazore in late race traffic. Using a lapped car as a pick, McDonald took the top spot and then went the distance for the victory. Lazore had to settle for second, in front of a hard charging Dave Heaslip. Laurent Ladouceur finished fourth with points leader Dale Planck coming home with a fifth place finish.

Points leader Carey Terrence led all 15 laps to take the Semi Pro honours on this night. Terrence was impressive in his second appearance in a recently purchased car. Joey Woods came within a car length at one point but had to settle for second best followed by Bruce Merpaw, Dion Oakes, and Ghislain Valade.

Gerry Oszczakiewicz picked up his second win of the year in the 12 lap Rookie event. The race featured some spectacular near disasters including the back end of a car airborne on the front straightaway. Stuart Mullin, Kurtis McPhee, Scott Nurse and Joey St. Louis were second through fifth respectively.

Cornwall Motor Speedway returns to action next Sunday night at 7pm with the final race in the Doiron Engineering Cup for the Modifieds along with Pro Stocks, Semi Pros and Rookies.
