LADOUCEUR WINS MODIFIED FEATURE AT CORNWALL

Laurent Ladouceur had "Lady Luck" on his side as he raced to victory at

Cornwall Motor Speedway. The "Laser" was the benefactor after a roll over

involving the two front runners on lap 26 of the 30 lap feature. Mark

Hitchcock (Kingston, Ontario) and Pierre Dagenais (Gatineua, Quebec) were

battling for the lead when Hitchcock's #95 got tangled up with Dagenais'

#124 out of turn 4. Hitchcock rolled as Dagenais spun around on the front

stretch. Hithcock was helped out his car by emergency personnel and taken

to a Cornwall hospital as a precautionary measure. He returned to the track

by the end of the night.

Ladouceur, who was riding 3rd at the time of the collision, ended up in

the lead on the restart. Lee Ladouceur, Laurent's son, sat 2nd.

The next four laps were fast and furious as the father and son fought for

the lead with Brian "Slim" McDonald waiting for either of them to make a

mistake. It's the second time this season a Ladouceur has won a Modified

feature at Cornwall Motor Speedway (Lee won on opening night).

Rounding out the top 5 were Dagenais (4th) and Perry Francis (5th).

The 30 lap feature also marked the 2nd race in the Doiron Engineering

Cup. Hitchcock came into the race leading the points in the four race

series but his unlucky finish pushed him down to 3rd. Ladouceur takes over

the lead with 123 points, 12 more than 2nd place Brian McDonald.

The 20 lap Late Model feature was just as exciting as the Modified race.

"Bulldog" Dave Bissonette won his second straight feature at Cornwall. The

Alexandria, Ontario driver started the feature 14th but quickly sliced and

diced his way through the field. A handful of cautions kept the field close

through the first 9 laps giving Bissonette the edge he needed. Bissonette

and Joey Ladouceur swapped the lead a few times over the last half of the

race. Ladouceur had to settle for 3rd after getting passed during the final

lap by Stephane Lebrun (2nd).

Dominic Gauvreau won his first Duke Stock feature at Cornwall this

season. He finished just ahead of Richard Brady. Gaetan Amesse finished

3rd.

It was the first trip to the winner's circle for Stuart Mullin in the

Rookie Stock feature. Bill Woodward Jr. and Curtis McPhee finished 2nd and

3rd, respectively.
