Ladouceur wins in more ways than one at Cornwall
Joey Ladouceur accomplished three things with one feature win on Sunday night at Cornwall Motor Speedway. Ladouceur won the 50 lap Pro Stock main leading from the drop of the green to the wave of the checkered.
The victory clinched the four race Mr. Radiator series for the Alexandria driver. It also allowed Ladouceur to climb into a tie with Dave Bissonnette for the Pro Stock season long points lead with his first win of the year at Cornwall Motor Speedway. Ladouceur is now well prepared for the arrival of the Super DIRT Pro Stock series at Cornwall next Sunday night.
Bissonnette charged through the field to finish second after qualifying from the consi. He made a couple of bids on late restarts but couldn’t pass Ladouceur. BJ Peters was third followed by Daniel Leduc and Stephane Labrun.
Brian MacDonald took the over the lead on lap 5 and went the distance to take the 30 lap Modified feature, his first victory since opening night. Mark Hitchcock was second, which was good enough to give the Kingston pilot, the overall championship in the four race Doiron Engineering Cup series. Dave Heaslip with some nifty moves on the final few laps was third with Stephane LaFrance and Lee Ladouceur rounding out the fast five.
Akwesasne’s Aaron Day won everything he could in one night. Day won the rained out feature from 2 weeks ago for the Dukes, backed that up with a heat win and then a second feature win of the night. Day was never really challenged in either race although Dan Mitchell finished second in both races. Kevin Duffy was third in the first feature followed by Gaetan Amesse and Kevin McRae. Amesse grabbed the third spot in the second fo around followed by McRae and Robbie Ezard.
The Rookies also ran a pair of feature races. Stuart Mullin cruised by Andrew Russell in the late going of the first event to score his third feature win of 2003. Billy Woodward was third in front of Kurtis McPhee and Nico Leblanc. Gatineau’s Dan Larose took the nightcap with Woodward second, McPhee third, Leblanc fourth and Martin Walter fifth.
The Super DIRT Series for Pro Stocks makes it’s second ever appearance at Cornwall on Sunday night, along with a full program of Modifieds, Dukes and Rookies. The green flag drops at 7pm.
