Ladouceur takes Pro Stock Super DIRT Series win at Cornwall

Joey Ladouceur’s hot streak continued Sunday night at Cornwall Motor Speedway. Ladouceur not only took his second 50 lap feature at Cornwall in as many weeks, he at the same time, grabbed his second Empire Sports Network Pro Stock tour race in as many nights.

Ladouceur used some early patience and started to move through the field around the midway point. He then went back and forth for the lead a number of times with Dave Bissonnette. Ladouceur outfoxed the Bulldog on a restart with just under 10 laps remaining and led the rest of the way coming off a win the night before at Frogtown International Speedway. Marc Therrien ended up in second place followed by Louis Jackson, Willie Adams and early leader Denis Gauvreau.

Modified rookie Eric Gauvreau picked up his new car on Sunday afternoon and by Sunday night he had scored his first ever feature win. Gauvreau had the fastest car for the first 21 laps of the Modified race until a light rain began to fall. Two cars rocketed by him on the restart after the rain let up but the former Pro Stock pilot proved to be unflappable and passed Dave Heaslip with 2 laps to go to retake the top spot for good. Heaslip settled for second followed by Stephane LaFrance, Brian MacDonald and Dan Jalbert.

The rains came for good just after the halfway point of the Rookie feature. Billy Woodward Jr was credited with the win. Brian Rochon, Nico Leblanc, Stuart Mullin and Kurtis McPhee survived some early race incidents to finish 2nd through fifth respectively. The 15 lap Duke Stock feature and the Powder Puff events fell victim to the weather.

The Super DIRT Series for 358 Modifieds returns to Cornwall next Sunday night for the traditional Labour Day weekend Jiffy 100 along with a full program of Pro Stocks, Dukes and Rookies in addition to the rained out Duke Stock feature. The green flag drops at 7pm.
