Bissonette claims round one of Mr. Radiator series atCornwall

Dave Bissonnette’s choice of a borrowedengine is impeccible. Bissonnette picked up a motor from JRFuels, the sponsor of Mitchell Jock’s car and then beat thatcar to the checkered flag in the 50 lap Late Model feature onSunday night at Cornwall Motor Speedway. The race was thefirst in the four race Mr. Radiator series for Late Models.

Bissonnette and Jock battled for lap afterlap. Bissonnette on the high side of the race track and Jock onthe inside. Bissonnette finally started pulling away in thefinal 10 laps to score the victory. Jock was second across theline but came up light on the scales. Marc Therrien was thirdin front of Joey Ladouceur who made his way through the fieldthree times after being involved in a couple of incidents.Stephane Lebrun rounded out the top 5.

Dave Heaslip jumped into the lead on thefirst lap and led the entire distance to claim the 30 lapModified main. Heaslip’s only tense moments came in lappedtraffic as the Smiths Falls veteran driver scored a popularwin. Luc Plante who started 12th came through thefield to finish second followed by Chris Herbison, LaurentLadouceur and Joel Doiron. Ladouceur and Doiron share thepoints lead after the opening two nights of action.

Robin Laframboise took advantage of arestart with just three laps to go to take the 15 lap DukeStock event. Richard Turcotte had to settle for second spotwith Gaetan Amesse, Randy Andre and Tammy Jalbert all scoringtop five finishes.

The first few laps of the Rookie stock eventwere absolutely wild with numerous incidents. When thingssettled down Rosco Garreau of Alexandria was a convincingwinner. Nico Leblanc came home second followed by Dan Lortie,Kevin Fetterly Junior and Danielle Legault.

Next Sunday night at Cornwall Motor Speedwayis Photo and Autograph night with a full race program for allfour regular divisions. The green flag drops at 7 pm.
