Glen Reed 35, had his back up car with a motor that has only been in one race. However, he struggled with problems and finished 8th in the first heat and was not able to start in the consi and not getting chance to qualify.
Before 10 laps were in the leaders, Hoffman, Elliott, Horton, Radd, and Mullins were lapping the field. On lap 23, Hoffman and Smith got together forcing Hoffman to go up the track making contact with Horton. Horton had no where to go and spun the car in turn two, but before 8 circuits were in Horton was back up to 5th. Lap 42 Short got slideways in turn 4, with on coming cars having no where to go, involving Bishop who hits the breaks so hard he almost got top side, Glanden was on the outside of Bishop and has no where to go and almost gets over. Then comes VanGorder and he does get topside. Everyone was okay, but VanGorder's car looked to be totaled.
Cliff Foskey had front end trouble after 24 laps ending his night, others with problems were Tucker, Mills, Simpson, VonDohren, and Bunting.
