BRIAN MCDONALD, MITCHELL JOCK, CAREY TERRANCE, BILLY WOODWARD, JR. AND GARRETT WHITE VISIT FROGTOWN VICTORY LANE
Hogansburg, NY ... Brian "Slim" McDonald of Cornwall, Ontario and Tom Jock, Jr. of Snye, Quebec put on a show and a half for the Frogtown faithful with McDonald finally coming out the victor in what was one of the most exciting features of the 2004 season.
Delbert LeGrow, who literally ran away with his qualifying heat, and George Foley started on the front row of the Amigos Tex-Mex Bar & Grill 25 lap main event that saw 29 cars take the green flag with LeGrow grabbing the early lead. But in lap #3, Dan Jalbert came flying up from his 5th starting spot and grabbed the lead on lap #3 followed by Delbert LeGrow, Tom Jock, Jr., John Lazore and George Foley. On lap #7, Jock found an opening and got by Jalbert for the lead.
Back in the pack, Brian McDonald and Kyle Jacobs were coming on strong and had broke into the top five on lap #7 as well. Jock continued to hold his lead but by lap #10, McDonald and Jacobs had moved into second and third and began to put the heat on the second generation driver Jock. In lap #16, Tom came up on a slower car and it proved to be the turning point in the event for Jock as McDonald took advantage of the situation and grabbed the lead. Jock did not give up and still tried to come back but just could not get to the speedy McDonald as Brian came home with a hard fought victory.
The race saw some incredible runs. Mark Hitchcock started 29th in the field and finished 4th. Bill Cook started 22nd in the field and finished 7th.
Tom Jock, Jr. finished a great second while Dan Jalbert fought back to finish third. Mark Hitchcock finished 4th with Dave Heaslip having a fabulous run as well coming from his 16th starting spot to finish 5th.
In the DIRT Pro Stock 20 lap, feature Mitchell Jock came from his 9th starting spot and held off a very determined PJ Peters for the win.
Louie Jackson and Jason Fetterly started on the front row with Louie grabbing the lead. On lap #3, Mitchell Jock who came roaring up through the field from his 9th starting spot grabbed the lead from Jackson followed by PJ Peters, Jody Swamp and Clayton Benedict. Both Jackson and Peters put on a great show in the battle for second with Peters taking second place for good on lap #8. Peters continued to put the heat on the young Akwesasne star Jock for the lead including pulling right along side on the front stretch on lap #17. But Mitchell was determined to take a trip to the Mohawk Bingo Palace Victory Lane and held on for the win. PJ Peters settled for second with Louie Jackson, Clayton Benedict and Jody Swamp rounding out the top five.
In the always exciting and action packed Semi Pro feature, Carey Terrance held off a very persistent Dion Oakes for the win.
Terrance who started 9th in the field and Oakes who started 11th wasted no time coming up through the field and were running first and second by lap #5 of the 15 lap feature event. By lap #12 Terrance began to increase his lead over Oakes and continued on from there to win the event. Dion Oakes held on for second with Steven Brand, Mike Allen and Teio Seymour rounding out the top five.
In the Bandit feature, Billy "Woo Woo" Woodward, Jr. still remains tough to beat as he was able to hold off a hard charging Joey Foster for the win.
Woodward grabbed the lead from early race leader Josh Poste on lap #3 and went on for the win. Foster had an incredible race starting 17th in the field and finishing second. Points leader Trevor White who seems to be as steady as a rock every week took third with Jeb Beeson and Josh Poste rounding out the top five.
In the Enduro class, Garrett White avoided near miss after near miss and survived a thrilling race to finish first. "The Rock" Rock Niles drove three-quarters of the race on three wheels to finish second. WOW! Corey Castell, Matt Langdon and Tom Square rounded out the top five.
Next week it will be Mohawk Nation Cab and Smith's Lumber night at the Speedway that will feature the 17th annual poster Banner night. During the intermission the kids will have a chance to display their posters and banners of their favorite drivers in front of the grandstand with the fans being the judges determining who the winners will be.
Pit gates now open at 5:00 p.m. with the main grandstand gates opening at 6:00 p.m. The first heat will go off at 7:00 p.m. sharp.
