WIN AT FROGTOWN

Hogansburg, NY ... Dale Planck of Cortland, New York seems to be enjoying his stay at Frogtown International Speedway as he made it two wins in a row this past Saturday night in the DIRT 358 Modified division.

Patrick Dupree and Delbert LeGrow started on the front row of the Big Boyz Gas 25 lap main event with Dupree grabbing the early lead. But as they came around for the first time, Perry Francis who had been running very strong earlier in his heat took over the lead followed by Dupree, Jeff Sykes, John Lazore and Chris Jones. On Lap #8, John Lazore who started 10th in the field of 28 cars made his move and slipped by Jeff Sykes for second and set his sites on the speedy Perry Francis. Lazore found an opening down the backstretch and grabbed the lead. This brought the Frogtown fans to their feet cheering as they anticipated possibly John picking up his first DIRT 358 Modified feature.

But back in the pack, teammate Dale Planck, Mike Perrotte, Jeff Sykes and Chris Jones had other ideas. Planck who started 14th in the field made his way quickly up through the top five and after a battle with former track champion Mike Perrotte, took over second on lap #11. Lazore did all he could to hold off his teammate but on lap #19 Dale found the opening he had been waiting for and grabbed the lead. Perrotte who had been running third at the time battled with Lazore for second and was able to get by John on lap #19. Planck had built up a sizeable lead already and Mike just could not reach Planck in time as Dale cruised home the winner. Mike Perrotte finished second with John Lazore, Chris Jones and points leader Dave Heaslip rounding out the top five.

In the DIRT Pro Stock division, it was Travis Back of Akwesasne taking his second checkered flag in the Coors Light Frogtown Speedway Super Series.

Roy Delormier and Back started on the front row with Travis grabbing the lead followed by Delormier, Mitchell Jock, Louie Jackson and P.J. Peters. P.J. was running strongest of the bunch as he got by Jackson, Jock and Delormier quickly in lap #4 and pulled along side of Back for the lead. As they came off turn four on lap #11, P.J. found a seam and grabbed the lead but it was short lived as fate would have it on lap #21 Travis grabbed the lead from P.J. and if that wasn't bad enough, Peters had a tire go flat which sent him to the pits. Jody Swamp and Clayton Benedict kept the pressure on Back for the lead but could not find a way around the crafty DIRT Pro Stock star. Back came home the winner picking up his second series victory and giving him a nice lead in the Coors Light Series point chase. Jody Swamp finished second with Clayton Benedict, Tim Allen and P.J. Peters rounding out the top five.

In the Big Boyz Gas 15 lap Semi Pro main event, Dion Oakes of Akwesasne made his way to the Mohawk Bingo Palace victory lane for the first time ever at Frogtown.

Dion led the event from start to finish but still had to hold off a determined Mike Allen and Teio Seymour for the win. Allen was able to hold off Seymour for second as the popular Seymour had to settle for third. Veteran racer Dick Planty and Akwesasne's Greg Ezard rounded out the top five.

In the Bandit division, it was Trevor White in his Enterprise Rent-A-Car Bandit racer taking his first trip to the Mohawk Bingo Place Victory Lane.

White did an amazing job holding off Billy "Woo Woo" Woodward, Jr. on the last lap as the two competitors touch coming out of turn #4 on the final lap that sent both cars swerving back and forth across the track headed for the finish line with White finishing in front just barely at the finish. Woodward finished second with Stewart Mossow taking third. Newcomer Carl Burdick finished fourth with David Page rounding out the top five.

In one of the most exciting Enduro features in the history of Frogtown Speedway, Donald Delormier held off Garrett White just barely to win his first trip to the Mohawk Bingo Palace Victory Lane. White had to settle for second after an early race incident that kept him from getting his third in a row at the speedway. Bennett White finished third with Corey Castell and "The Rock" Rock Niles rounding out the top five.

Next week the Empire Super Sprints make their way to Frogtown for the 8th running of the Coca-Cola Classic. Also on the card will be the DIRT Pro Stocks, Semi Pros, Bandits and Enduros. The DIRT 358 Modifieds have the night off. Pit gates open at 5:00 p.m. with the main grandstand gates opening at 6:00 p.m. The first heat will get underway at 7:00 p.m. sharp.
