JEFF SYKES, TRAVIS BACK, MIKE ALLEN, BILLY WOODWARD, JR. AND ROCK NILES CLAIM VICTORIES AT FROGTOWN

A great crowd and a full pit equaled a fabulous night of thrilling and exciting racing on Lazore's Construction night at Frogtown International Speedway this past Saturday night.

In the 8th running of the Lazore's Construction 25 lap DIRT 358 Modified main event, 2003 Track Champion Jeff Sykes found his way to the Mohawk Bingo Palace Victory Lane but not before he had to fight off a very competitive field of cars. Boomer McIntyre and Kevin Fetterly started on the front row with Boomer grabbing the early lead followed closely by Fetterly, Greg Monica, Delbert LeGrow and Tom Jock, Jr. On lap #4 the caution flag waved for a car that had spun out on the back stretch. At the same time, Dan Jalbert had come flying up from his 9th starting spot and was making a bid for third when something broke in the front end of the car in turn #4 sending the car up in the air then flipping violently four or five times finally coming to rest on the bottom side of the race track in turn four. Dan got out and was taken by the Mohawk Council Ambulance to the pit area as a precaution. Dan was ok much to the delight of the fans.

When the race resumed, McIntyre maintained his lead now followed by a determined Greg Monica, Jeff Sykes, newcomer Patrick Dupree and Tom Jock, Jr. Boomer was able to hang on to the lead until lap #13, when Sykes made a nice move and got by McIntyre for the lead. Leon Gonyo who started 10th in the field had moved into third and was followed closely by Dave Heaslip and Patrick Dupree. On lap #20, Sykes started to put a little distance between he and his competitors. The battle was on for second as two long time 358 Modified DIRT stars, Dave Heaslip and Leon Gonyo, put on a great show for the fans with some great side by side and position swapping action. But the evening belonged to Edwards, New York's Jeff Sykes as he came home the victor. Dave Heaslip held on for second with Leon Gonyo, Boomer McIntyre and the popular Chris Jones rounding out the top five.

In the DIRT Pro Stock division, it was the first leg of the Coors Light Pro Stock Series and what a race it was. Rookie driver Ricky Thompson and crowd favorite Casey Swamp started on the front row with Thompson grabbing the early lead. Mitchell Jock grabbed the lead from Thompson on lap #8 but it was short lived as something broke on the young stars JR Fuels Pro Stock sending him to the pits. William Adams grabbed the lead on lap #10 but did not get out of site of no less than five cars that formed a very fast freight train around the race track. On lap #21, Adams' teammate Travis Back made a slick move to the inside of Adams to take the lead and pick up his second win of the season. William Adams after a great run had to settle for second with Jody Swamp, Louie Jackson and PJ Peters rounding out the top five.

In the Lazore's Construction 15 lap Semi Pro feature, Mike Allen came from his 3rd starting spot and finally found his way to the Mohawk Bingo Palace Victory Lane. Allen had to earn it though as he had to fight off two tough competitors, Steven Brand and Carey Terrance, for the win. Terrance finished second with the 2003 Track Champion Brand finishing third. Jack Johnson and last week's winner Dominic Gauvreau rounded out the top five.

In the always exciting and thrilling Bandit division, twenty-seven cars took the green flag with 2003 Track Champion Billy Woo Woo Woodward coming away with the victory. Woodward took the lead from a very determined Joey Foster on lap #6 of the event and went on for the victory. Foster held on for second with Trevor White, David Page and Josh Poste rounding out the top five.

In the Enduro feature go, The Rock Rock Niles was able to avoid disaster numerous times including a restart after a red flag to take his second win of 2004. Next week it will be Mohawk Spring Water and St. Lawrence Centre night at the Speedway with a regular card of racing that will feature the 4th running of the Mohawk Spring Water / St. Lawrence Centre 25 for the DIRT 358 Modifieds. Also on the card will be the popular kiddies tire race at the intermission and a 20 lap $100.00 to win Slic Track Enduro feature.

Grandstand gates open at 6:00 p.m. with the first race getting underway at 7:00 p.m. sharp.
