DAVE HEASLIP MAKES IT TWO IN A ROW AT FROGTOWN

Hogansburg, NY ... Dave Heaslip of Smith Falls, Ontario made it two for two at Frogtown International Speedway last Saturday night with a big win over his long time Frogtown rival Mark Hitchcock on Jim's Performance Plus night at the speedway.

Jimmy Lazore and Dan Jalbert started on the front row of the 1st running of the Jim's Performance Plus 25 with Lazore grabbing the early lead followed closely by Dan Jalbert, Jeff Marshall, Al Jacobs and Jeff Sykes. Lazore started to pull away from the field as the young star who won his qualifying heat earlier looked to be a sure winner if the caution did not come out.

In lap #11 the first caution came which tightened up the field once again. On the restart, Lazore grabbed the lead again followed by Dan Jalbert, Jeff Marshall and Dave Heaslip who had come flying up through the field from his 12th starting spot. Heaslip went to the outside of Marshall then "slipped" to the inside of Jalbert and then a quick move to the inside of Lazore to grab the lead on lap #12. Jeff Sykes and Mark Hitchcock had started their run to the front. Dan Jalbert was having the best run he had ever had at Frogtown but could not run down the speedy veteran Heaslip. On lap #24, Hitchcock was able to just get by Jalbert in time but it was way too late to catch Heaslip for the #1 spot as Dave made it two in a row at "The Frog". Mark Hitchcock finished second with Dan Jalbert, Jeff Sykes and Jimmy Lazore finishing fifth.

In the DIRT Pro Stock 20 lap feature, it was a close one right to the end but Travis Back of Akwesasne took his first ever DIRT Pro Stock victory at Frogtown.

Jason Fetterly and Joel Herne started on the front row with Herne grabbing the early lead. The caution flew early which gave Travis Back a chance to grab the lead after picking off three other competitors with only one lap completed. On the restart, something happened to Herne's #96X that sent him from front to back in a big hurry. Back grabbed the lead followed closely by Casey Swamp, Roy Delormier, PJ Peters and Jody Swamp. Louie Jackson who started 10th in the field was mounting a serious charge to the front and on lap #15, found himself right on the back bumper of the popular Travis Back. But this was to be Travis Back's night as he was able to fight off every challenge that Jackson could mount to take the win. Louie Jackson finished second with PJ Peters, Mitchell Jock and the consistent Roy Delormier rounding out the top five.

In the always exciting Semi Pro division, things got a little too exciting. Four laps into what was a very fast paced race, a multi car crash on the front stretch that had to be one of the worst accidents in this class in the history of the speedway took out no less than 9 competitors and included a wild ride that sent Nathan Delormier high into the air twisting and turning and finally coming down hard onto the speedway surface. Delormier got out of the car ok but the same could not be said for the #24 of Aaron Day who had to be taken out of his car on a back board and was transported to an area hospital complaining of sore ribs. There was no report on Aaron's condition at press time.

Dominic Gauvreau of Gatineau, Quebec came charging through the field on the restart and on lap #8 grabbed the lead from rookie runner Brandon Snyder and fought off challenges from Carey Terrance and Steven Brand for the win. Terrance finished a strong second with Steven Brand, Harvey Arquette and Teio Seymour rounding out the top five.

In the Bandit division, 26 cars took the green in a thriller that saw Ernie Cree lead it from pole to pole to pick up a big win after almost destroying his car in an accident at Cornwall Motor Speedway last Sunday night. Stuart Mossow who is having a great season so far finished second with Josh Poste, Kurtis McPhee and David Page rounding out the top five.

In the Enduro feature go, Kevin Thompson cruised home the winner with Corey Castell finishing second.

Next Saturday night it will be Lazore's Construction night featuring the 8th running of the Lazore's Construction 25 for the DIRT 358 Modifieds and the Great American Dump Truck Race at intermission. The DIRT Pro Stocks will be featured as well with the running of the 1st leg of the Coors Light Pro Stock Series at Frogtown. Grandstand gates open at 6:00 p.m. with the first heat underway at 7:00 p.m. sharp.
