EDWARDS WINS CAREER 4TH

Middletown, NY: Gary Edwards, Jr. of Wurtsboro, NY won the 30 lap Middletown Pontiac, GMC big block feature Saturday night at the Orange County Fair Speedway After finishing last in the season opener, Edwards parlayed his outside pole starting position into his 4th career win. The last came nearly a year ago on May 3rd.

Edwards chased pole sitter Mike DePalma for the first nine laps before making the winning move in turn one on lap 10. He then survived three restarts to win by 1.2 seconds over Ric Hill. Butch Tittle finished 3rd while David Van Horn and Jerry Higbie completed the top five.

In the Baker Plumbing and Heating 20 lap DIRT Sportsman main, former champion Stan Jablonka of Poughquag, NY took the lead on the initial lap and won by more than a second over Tom Perrego. Rick Mill, Joe Morel and newcomer Mario Page completed the top five. It was Jablonka's 17th career win, putting him in a 4th place tie with Tom Hall on the all time win list.

Taking his 8th division event and first this season, Jamie McGannon of Pomona, NY won the 20 lap Expert Pro Stock feature. Don Carlson from Ridgefield, Ct. went two for two to start the Rookie Pro Stock season taking the 18 lap affair.

The Pure Stock division ran split features with Emerson Cargain, Jr. of Mahopac, NY victorious in the first while Al D'Antonio of Highland Lakes, NJ won his 2nd of the season in the nightcap.

Racing returns Saturday, May 1 with D & T Foods sponsoring all divisions in competition. The highlight will be a 25 lap Syracuse Qualifier for the 358 Modifieds. Racing begins at 6:00 pm.
