STEVE DODD WINS OCFS 50 LAPPER
Middletown, NY ... Steve Dodd of Howells, NY became the fifth driver in five races to win a big block main event at the Orange County Fair Speedway this season. Starting 3rd on the grid, Dodd took the lead on lap 38 of the 50 lap Dig Safely, NY feature. He then went on to post his 4th career big block win here. Finishing second was Craig Mitchell followed by Jerry Higbie. Point leader Rich Eurich was 4th while Butch Tittle claimed fifth.
The 20 lap Cedar Ridge Trailer Sales DIRT Sportsman feature, held over from last week, was won by 2nd year driver Matt Hitchcock of Stony Point, NY. Hitchcock's first career win will stand, but he lost all points and money won when he came up light on the scales after the feature. Mario Page, Neil Harris, Defending champion Joe Dunay, and current point leader Rick Mill were next across the line. The regularly scheduled feature was postponed and will be made up on June 19.
In the Johnson Auto and Truck 20 Expert Pro Stock feature, Bill Pascual from Cortlandt Manor, NY captured his 2nd win of the season. Don Carlson of Ridgefield, Ct. continues to roll in the Rookie Pro Stock division winning his 5th feature in six events.
The Pure Stock division completed their 2nd holdover feature from last week with Greg Kurtzman of Norwalk, Ct. taking his 2nd win of the season. In the regularly scheduled events, Ray Tarantino of Pleasant Valley, NY and Emerson Cargain, Sr. of Mahopac, NY visited victory lane For Tarantino, it was his 1st of the season while Cargain, Sr. won his 2nd of the campaign.
Racing returns next week with a holiday weekend double header. On Saturday the 358 Modifieds return to run double features as they make up the main event from May 15. they join the Modifieds, DIRT Sportsman, Pro Stocks and Pure Stocks. On Sunday, the opening event in the Chet's Garage Demo Derby Series will be held along with an Enduro and The Botanical, "a Day Spa" ladies Enduro.
