TIM McCREADIE BACK HOME AGAIN IN THUNDER ALLEY VICTORY LANE
EVANS MILLS, NY...A busy night of twelve features greeted fans at Caprara's Thunder Alley Speedpark for Altmire's Auto and Truck Parts night. Tim McCreadie made another successful return to Thunder Alley recording the feature win in the DIRT Modifieds, while Lance Willix made his return to victory lane in the DIRT Sportsman.
The two Pure Stock features were captured by Dan Hoffman and Dave Pope.
Tim McCreadie charged into the lead in the 30-lap DIRT Modified feature and by the lap 10 mark was dealing with heavy traffic while Steve Paine gave chase. Jeff Brownell battled Bob McCreadie as Frankie Caprara and Vic Coffey closed in. A lap 15 yellow got the leaders out of heavy traffic and set up a single file restart. On the restart, McCreadie again motored away while Caprara took advantage of a Brownell bobble to move into the third spot. A second yellow flew when Kyle Wilson tagged the backstretch wall on lap 20. Paine began to have overheating problems when the race resumed as Bob McCreadie passed Brownell for fourth. Paine's car expired on lap 24 to bring out a third caution and bunch the field once again. On the restart, Bob McCreadie and Caprara battled for second as Vic Coffey challenged Brownell. Bobby Holland and Patrick Dupree tangled in turn three for another caution a couple of laps later. Caprara pulled high on lap 28 with a problem, which moved Ryan Bartlett into the top five. At the finish, Tim and Bob McCreadie made it a son-father one two finish, with Coffey, Bartlett, and John Ramsey completing the top five.
The 20-lap DIRT Sportsman feature saw Chad Phelps take off into the lead with Lance Willix giving chase. Willix battled hard with Phelps for the race lead as Scott Parliament and Matt Butler battled for the third spot. Phelps slid high in turn two just before the halfway point, which allowed Willix to storm into the lead. The yellow flag flew for Jack Meeks' broken front end sending him into the infield on lap 13. Willix pulled away on the restart and outdistanced Butler to record the win with Jim Kite in third, Chad Phelps in fourth, and Jessica Zemken passing Scott Parliament for fifth in the final corner.
Ken Rogers grabbed the early lead in the 20-lap IMCA modified feature but Sean Lias moved past him on lap 4 to take the lead. Dale Caswell moved into the second spot with Rob Keller trailing as an early yellow flew for debris on the track. Returning to green, Keller jumped under Caswell for second spot only to see Caswell return to the position as Andy Claiborne moved into fourth. On the restart, Claiborne and Mason jumped past Keller. The yellow flew again for a multiple car pileup that involved Rich Keller, Neal Edgar, Ken Rogers, Jason Dinzler, and Chris Thurston, whose car dumped fuel on the track that had to be burned off. Lias held the lead to the finish as Claiborne moved to the runnerup spot, followed by Mason, Caswell, and Rob Keller.
In the heldover 15-lap Pure Stock feature, Fran Briant took the early lead from Dan Hoffman with Dave Mannise taking the third spot. Hoffman muscled his way into the lead on lap 5 as the yellow flew for debris one lap later. Dave Mannise moved into second on the restart. Hoffman and Mannise battled for the lead through the closing laps leaving Briant to fight off Dave Pope in a battle for third. Hoffman held on for the win over Mannise, Friant, Dave Pope, and Steve Woodworth.
The regular 15-lap Pure Stock affair saw Dave Pope move into the top spot with Mark Barker and Dave Mannise chasing. Dan Hoffman, winner of the earlier feature, sat in fourth spot in the first half of the event. The quartet battled hard through the second half of the feature in and out of lapped traffic, which allowed fifth place runner Fran Briant to close in on the leaders. At the finish, Pope was the winner, followed by Barker, Mannise, Hoffman, and Briant.
In Thundercar action, makeup features were won by Keith Doxtater (6 Cyl), Garth Walts (8 Cyl), and Mike Durham (Truck). In regular Thundercar action, winners included Mike Brierton (4 Cyl Foreign), John Holder (6 Cyl), Garth Walts (8 Cyl), Josh Vern (4 Cyl Master), BJ Stevens (4 Cyl Amateur), and Mike Durham (Truck).
Taylor Caprara beat out Jordan Keruskie to win the Junior Modified Lite feature.
