NEW TEAM LEADS ALAN JOHNSON TO VICTORY LANE AT FULTON ON PICK-N-PULL AUTO PARTS NIGHT
FULTON, NY...Alan Johnson finally claimed his first DIRT 358 Modified feature win of the season at Fulton Speedway last Saturday on Pick-N-Pull Auto Parts Night. It took the formation of a new team to give the defending track champion the boost he needed. Earlier in the week Johnson teamed with Eric Kingsley and the new combination clicked right from the start and ended up in victory lane.
Dave Reilley jumped out to the early lead at the start of the Pick-N-Pull Auto Parts DIRT 358 Modified feature from the outside pole starting position. Reilley led the first two circuits of the main event. DIRT 358 Modified rookie Craig Terrell took the lead away from Reilley on lap three. After five circuits Terrell continued to lead and was being followed in the top five by John Ramsey, Jimmy Phelps, Reilley and Johnson.
Ramsey took the top spot away from Terrell on lap eight. Ramsey would only lead that circuit, however, with Terrell back in front on lap nine. Tim Fuller became the fourth leader of the race on lap 12. Fuller worked up patiently from the 13th starting position in search of his second straight victory at the Home of the Dynomax Victoria 200. A long stretch of green flag racing allowed Fuller to open up his lead.
Johnson moved into the second position on lap 23 and a caution period followed one lap later. That was the break that Johnson needed as after the restart he drove the bottom of the track to perfection. Johnson took the lead away from Fuller on lap 25 and it was a lead he would never give-up. Fuller had to settle for second. Phelps and Terrell placed third and fourth respectively for their season best finishes.
Dale Planck maintained his point lead with a solid fifth place finish. Jeff Rudalavage, Todd Burley, John Barker, John Ramsey and Jeremy Smith completed the top ten feature finishers in the quality field.
Jim Bowman won his second DIRT Sportsman feature race of the season last Saturday night. Walt McArdell, Jeremy Pitcher, Tim Sears and Mike Button followed Bowman across the finish line in the hotly contested event. Bowman passed McArdell on lap 10 for the lead and he was able to hold on the rest of the way in the 20-lap event.
Lee Burnett claimed his second DIRT Pro Stock feature race win of the season last Saturday night. Jeremy Clark, T.J. Fitzgibbons, Jason Rood and Paul Stoneburg finished in positions second through fifth respectively. Burnett took the lead away from Rood on lap three and he would lead the rest of the 20-lap affair.
Todd Storace won his first Pure Stock feature race of the season last Saturday night. Phil Marsden, Steve Woodworth, Paul Mercier and Gary Barton completed the top five feature finishers behind Storace. On lap five Storace took the top spot away from Woodworth and he would lead the rest of the 15-lap distance.
Wayne Younglove claimed the win in the special Dwarf Car feature race last Saturday night. Darren Forbes, Tim Burdick, Scott Nash and Mark Cooper completed the top five feature finishers behind Younglove. On lap 12 Younglove passed Forbes for the lead and he would never give it back in the 15-lap event.
