FULLER EDGES JOHNSON FOR THIRD WIN OF THE SEASON

FULTON, NY...Tim Fuller recorded his third Fulton Speedway DIRT 358 Modified feature win of the season last Saturday night. It was a victory Fuller almost gave away. Alan Johnson took the lead away from Fuller in the late going, but he was able to regain the top spot for the exciting win. The driver from Edwards, N.Y. earned $1,500 for the victory which came in front of the largest crowd of the season at the Home of the Victoria 200.

Dale Planck raced out to the early lead at the start of the DIRT 358 Modified feature from the pole starting position. Planck was fast right from the start and after five circuits he was being followed in the top five by Ty Hunt, Gordy Button, J.J. Michaels and Rich Vinson. The first caution of the race came on lap 16 and that took away the big lead that Planck had built up.

Tim Fuller took the lead away from Planck on the lap 17 restart. Fuller moved up fast from the 15th starting position. Fuller had company on his charge to the front though in the form of Alan Johnson. At the halfway point of the main event Johnson was up to the third spot after starting 17th. Jeremy Smith and Matt Sheppard completed the top five runners at the halfway mark.

On lap 19 Johnson passed Planck and moved into the second spot. He quickly closed in on Fuller and the race for the victory was on. For a while it appeared that Fuller held the upper hand, but Johnson would always stay within striking distance. On lap 33 Fuller jumped the cushion going into the first turn. This would be the opportunity that Johnson was looking for as he came away with the lead.

Fuller came charging right back as Johnson crossed the finish line as the leader on lap 34. On the final circuit Fuller used some lapped cars to his advantage as he used them to block Johnson in. Fuller was able to sneak by for the lead and he then won the drag race to the finish line over Johnson. Sheppard, Planck and Jeff Rudalavage crossed the finsih line in positions third through fifth.

Eric Richardson won his first ever DIRT Sportsman feature race last Saturday night. The week before Ryan Richardson, Eric's brother, became a first time winner. Shawn Donath, Ron Loveless, Mike Button and Donnie Wetmore Jr. completed the top five finishers behind the rookie driver. Richardson led the entire 20-lap distance for the poupular victory.

Jason Rood returned to the winners circle at the conclusion of the DIRT Pro Stock main event. It was the third win of the season for Rood. Lee Burnett, Tom Barron, Jeremy Clark and T.J. Fitzgibbons finished in positions second through fifth. On lap six Rood took the lead away from Stoneburg and he would lead the rest of the way in the 15-lap event.

Darren Kelso claimed his first Pure Stock feature victory of the season last Saturday night. Todd Koegel, Chris Cunningham, Phil Marsden and Paul Mercier completed the top five finishers behind Kelso. On lap six Kelso took the lead away from Steve Woodworth and held would lead the rest of the distance in the 15-lap affair.

Rick Wilson earned the win in the 20-lap Empire Super Sprint special. Lance Yonge, Mike Woodring, Bill Coffey and Mike Lutz completed the top five feature finishers. The race was a good three car battle between Wilson, Yonge and Woodring.

Racing will continue this Saturday at Fulton Speedway with the DIRT 358 Modifieds, DIRT Sportsman, DIRT Pro Stocks, Pure Stocks and the Four Cylinder Enduro racers all in action.
