GILMORE, HENNING AND EDGAR WIN SATURDAY FEATURES AT GRANDVIEW

BECHTELSVILLE, PA APRIL 24, 1999 . . . Kenny Gilmore visited

victory lane at Grandview Speedway on Saturday night for the

second time this season. This time he brought the Gilmore

Roofing/Sterling Fasteners entry as he won the 30-lap NASCAR

Winston Racing Series Modified feature race, ending a long

dry spell. And it was on opening night that Kenny was in

victory lane for the first time when he helped his Dad

Charlie Gilmore celebrate his first Sportsman feature win at

Grandview and his first win in more than 10 years.

Bill Henning of Lansdale brought the Hennings

Supermarket/WNPV-AM Radio sponsored entry to victory lane in

the 20-lap NASCAR Late Model feature for his first win of the

season. And in the 15-lap main event for PA. Sportsman Donn

Edgar of Lehighton brought the Ahner Furniture mount home first.

Ken Lindaberry was quick out in front of the 29 car

starting field in the 30-lapper for NASCAR Modifieds. And the

veteran racer had things pretty much his own way for the

first ten circuits. Sam Martz gave Lindaberry pressure at the

midway point and at 17 laps it was Lindaberry, Martz and

Kenny Gilmore chasing the victory in some very close

competition. However Lindaberry, apparently suffering a

mechanical problem got into the first turn guard rail giving

the lead to Gilmore. Lindaberry watched the rest of the

feature from the infield.

Terry Meitzler, now the NASCAR Modified point leader at

Grandview Speedway, put the pressure on Gilmore and for the

final ten laps it was a "nip-and-tuck" battle between the two

talented speedsters with Gilmore able to get the win by just

a very narrow margin. The win was worth $2,200. In fact the

feature win made for a "clean sweep" night for Gilmore as he

also won his qualifying race and the Cash Dash worth $365.

Second place went to Meitzler (Kutztown) while Tom

Mayberry (Seelersville), involved in an early race fracas,

came back to finish a strong third. Glenn Strunk

(Bechtelsville) brought his A-1 Racing Products entry home

fourth followed by Shawn Reimert (Oley).

Ray Swinehart earned the hard charger award with 7th

place finish from 28th starting spot. And Cliff Quinn earned

$25.00 as the first alternate from Kochel Equipment.

Bill Henning was the class of the "late model class" on

Saturday night as he set the pace for the entire 20-lap

excursion. Chuck Sennott, working his way from fifth, was an

early race challenge for the leader. However Sennott was also

busy holding off the challenges he had from John Durling and

Jeff Teets. In the end Henning had a comfortable margin of

victory to win his first of the season, his first of two

seasons. Second spot went to Sennott (Gilbertsville) followed

by John Durling (Reading), Jeff Teets (Coplay) and Kyle

Pensinger (Lyons Station). Current late model point leader

Dean Stoudt finished sixth.

And it was Donn Edgar of Lehighton coming off first in

the final early season feature event for the PA Sportsman.

Edgar had his hands full as he had to hold off strong chases

from two feature winner Dave Dissinger to grab his first

feature victory. Dissinger held on for second followed by

Ryan Beltz (Boyertown), Steve Young (Wayne) and Ricky Rutt

(Phillipsburg, NJ).

Qualifying heat races for the NASCAR Modifieds went to

Doug Pannepacker (Mopar powered), Terry Meitzler, Rick

Schaffer (Ford power) and Kenny Gilmore. The consolation

races for the modifieds were won by Tracy Readinger and John

Willman.

Heats for the late models went to Henning, Sennott and

Kyle Pensinger while the consolation was won by Mike Bedell.

The PA Sportsman heat race was won by Donn Edgar giving

him a clean sweep for the night.

This Saturday, May 1, stock car racing action returns to

a 7:30 p.m. starting time and that will be the starting time

for the balance of the season. Featured will be the NASCAR

Modifieds and NASCAR Late Models. At least 13 events of

stock car racing.

On Wednesday, May 5, the All Star Circuit of Champions

sprint cars and the KARS 358 Sprints will be featured in a

doubleheader show of sprint car racing starting at 7:30 p.m.

Gates open at 5 p.m. There will be an autograph session

featuring three top sprint racers at 5:30 p.m.

Saturday, May 8, 7:30 p.m. Black Horse Auto Body Night

featuring NASCAR Modifieds and Late Models, at least 13

events of stock car racing. First 100 ladies through the main

gate will receive a rose courtesy of Baldwin Flowers of

Conshohocken, PA. In addition, in honor of Mother's Day, the

oldest and youngest Mom in the audience will get a gift

courtesy of P.K. Moyer and Sons Excavating and the Towne

Restaurant in Telford, PA.
