CHRIS JONES TOPS 358 MODIFIED FIELD AT FROGTOWN INTERNATIONAL SPEEDWAY

Hogansburg, NY - Chris Jones of Demorestville, Ontario has had two great opportunities to win a feature over the past couple of weeks and he was not about to let a third chance get away. Matt Gonyo and Craig Ormsby started on the pole for the Raceworld/Holcombs Auto Service 25 lap feature with Ormsby grabbing the early lead only to have the caution to come out on lap #3 for a six car pile-up in turn #2.

On the restart, Chris Jones grabbed the lead after quickly working his way to the top from his 5th starting position. Back in the pack Dave Heaslip, Brian McDonald, last week's feature winner Doug Fuller and Larry Welling, Jr. continued to do battle amongst each other all the time gaining on the speedy Jones.

Dave Heaslip who commented during a pre-race interview that the track was perfect for his car and that he would be a force to be reconed with in the feature. Dave's prediction held true to form as he quickly broke away to grab second and set his sights on Jones. Chris was like a rock holding off the long time veteran Heaslip for the top spot. Dave Heaslip had to settle for second but not before he let everyone know that his day was coming. Brian McDonald was third with Doug Fuller and Larry Welling, Jr. rounding out the top five.

In the Pro Stock feature go, Billy "the Kid" King of Akwesasne took the win. Tim Allen and Casey Swamp started on the front row of the event but when the green flag dropped, it didn't take long for King and young sensation Mitchell Jock to make their move as Jock grabbed the lead with King close behind. Mitchell looked to be a sure winner of the event until lap #16 when something let go in the car sending Jock to the pits. King grabbed the lead with Joey Ladouceur and Louie Jackson close behind. King began to pull away and went on for the victory. Ladouceur finished second, with Jackson taking third spot. Jody Swamp and Alain Coursal rounded out the top five.

In the Semi Pro main event, Greg Snyder of Fort Covington, New York grabbed the lead from Tom Chubb on lap #7 and had to fight off repeated challenges from both Chubb and Tammy Jalbert who was the early race leader to get the victory. Jalbert grabbed the lead from her pole position starting spot only to have Tom Chubb get the lead on lap #3. Snyder who started 7th in the field worked the outside part of the race track to take the lead for good on lap #7. Tom Chubb finished second, Tammy Jalbert stayed close for third with Jeff Marshall and Stephane Lemire making his first appearance at the speedway of the season rounding out the top five.

In the always exciting Bandit division, Mark Radbourne and Chris Tremblay put on the best show of the season in the class coming across the finish line just inches apart with Radbourne taking the victory. Andy Gardner grabbed the early lead only to have Radbourne take it away from him on lap #3. Chris Tremblay, who started 6th in the field battled with Kees VanWinden and Peter Cenname for second for a number of laps before breaking away and going after Radbourne for the lead. The two had the crowd on their feet the rest of the way with great side by side racing action all the way to the finish line. Radbourne got the win with Tremblay taking second. Peter Cenname, Kurtis McPhee and Kevin Fetterly, Jr. rounded out the top five.

The Enduro class feature that was action packed all over the race track. Ryan Phillips avoided a lot of obstacles and incidents to take home the win. Owen White got up for second with Kevin Clement getting up for third. The Enduro class made their mark this night with action all over the race track throughout the race. Race fans should stick around a little longer and see this class run. It is well worth the price of admission.
