MIKE PERROTTE, FLOYD THOMAS, STEVEN BRAND AND CHRIS TREMBLAY TAKE FROGTOWN TOP HONORS
Hogansburg, NY - Mike Perrotte of Morrisonville, NY came all the way from his 15th starting position to win the Lazore's Construction 25 for the 358 Modifieds last Saturday night at Frogtown.
Mark Smoke and Leon Gonyo started on the front row of the main event with Gonyo grabbing the early lead. Jeff Sykes of Edwards, NY came from his 4th starting spot to grab the lead from Gonyo on lap #5 followed closely by Chris Jones, Todd Stewart and Delbert Legrow. Sykes held the lead up until lap #15 when Mike Perrotte grabbed the lead with Jeff Sykes staying close.
Delbert Legrow looked as if he may get his first 358 Modified feature ever as he was able to get by Sykes for second on lap #22 and set his sights on Perrotte but Perrotte did a great job on the restart on lap #23 and was able to hang on for the win. Delbert Legrow had a fabulous run to finish second with Jeff Sykes, Mark Hitchcock and Dave Heaslip rounding out the top five.
In the Pro Stock class, Floyd Thomas who many at Frogtown knew it was just a matter of time before he would win a feature did just that fighting off all challengers for the win. Mitchell Jock and Thomas started on the front row of the feature with Jock grabbing the early lead only to give up the lead to Louie Jackson on lap #3. Jackson held the lead until he tangled with Billy "the Kid" King in lap #9 sending both cars to the back.
Thomas who was running third at the time inherited the lead and held off a determined Bruce Merpaw who ran a great race for the win. Merpaw finished second with Louie Jackson, Scott Kocher and Billy "the Kid" King rounded out the top five.
In the Semi Pro division it was Steven Brand bringing home a long awaited feature win at Frogtown. Steven took the lead on lap #2 and fought off an early challenge from Jamie Martin and then fighting off Keith Coughlin late in the race for the win. Coughlin finished second with Tom Chubb, Pete Backus and Paul Czyz rounding out the top five.
In the Bandit division it was Chris Tremblay of Cornwall, Ontario holding off a tough Kevin Fetterly, Jr. for the win. Kees VanWinden finished third with Curtis McPhee and Ron Tyo rounding out the top five.
In the Enduro class, Bill Chubb came away with his first win at the speedway. Ryan Phillips finsihed second with Steve Green finishing third.
Next Saturday night it will be Sno-Parts Unlimited and King Motorsports night at the Speedway with the Antique Stock Car Club making an appearance at the Speedway plus a regular card of racing for the 358 Modifieds, Pro Stocks, Semi Pros and Bandits.
Gates open at 5:30 with race time set for 7:00 p.m. sharp. See you at "the Frog"!
