PERROTTE WINS FROGTOWN SPRING FLING

HOGANSBURG, NY - Mike Perrotte of Morrisonville, NY won the 35-lap "Spring Fling" 358 Modified feature Saturday night at the Frogtown International Speedway in Hogansburg, NY. Steve Francis of Norwood, NY was declared the Pro Stock winner after post-race technical inspection found apparent feature winner Denis Gauvreau to have a chassis infraction. Greg Snyder of Fort Covington, NY won a wild Semi-Pro main event, while Kurtis McPhee of Cornwall was declared winner of the 4-Cylinder Bandits after original winner Mitch Jock was found to have a fuel infraction. Casey Swamp was the winner in the Bandit Trucks.

The St. Lawrence Center, Oionkwaonwe Enterprises, Sky's the Limit Travel Service & TLC Diner 35-lap Modified feature event found plenty of two-wide racing throughout the event. At the mid-point, Perrotte and second-place runner Peter Mantha, Jr. started to pull away from the field, while Kyle Jacobs of Hogansburg and Todd Stewart of Kingston, ONT battled for the third spot.

Perrotte maintained at least a car length lead for the final 10 laps of the event, but Perrotte's motor soured in the final laps, allowing Mantha to close the gap. As the checkers waved, Mantha ducked to Perrotte's low side coming out of turn four, but Perrotte held on and captured the win with Mantha right alongside him at the line. Jacobs finished third, with Todd Stewart and Bill Mullin of Iroqouis, ONT rounding out the top five.

In the Pro Stocks, Steve Francis and Darryl Steele of Renfrew, ONT traded second spot several times in the final laps, only to find that they were battling for the win after Denis Gauvreau was disqualified.

Greg Snyder of Fort Covington, NY held off Duane Brainard of Massena, Pete Backus of Canton and Brian Moulton of Waddington in a great battle for the Semi-Pro checkers. Opening night winner Louie Jackson of Hogansburg was running strong until he was caught up in a fronstretch restart scuffle and was sidelined.

The fans saw a great 4-Cylinder Bandit race, with Mitch Jock, Kurtis McPhee and Robin Laframboise of Cornwall, ONT trading the top spots throughout the event. Jock crossed the finish line first, but McPhee got credit for the win after Jock's car was DQ'ed in post-race tech inspection. Casey Swamp of Hogansburg was the winner in the Bandit Trucks division-Case ran with the cars, but several trucks are expected to be in action within a couple of weeks.

Next Saturday night, May 29th, Frogtown International Speedway hosts the Akwesasne Fuels Memorial Cup 50 for Modifieds, as well as a wild 50-lap "Slick Track Enduro" paying $400 to win. Also on the card is a full program of racing for the Pro Stocks, Semi-Pro, 4-Cylinder Bandits and Bandit Trucks. Racing starts at 7:30 PM, with veterans and active military personnel admitted to the grandstands at half-price.
