TOM HINDLEY AND JEFF HEOTZLER WIN MOD FEATURES
Middletown, NY: Tom Hindley of Fair Oaks, NY became the 9th different modified driver to win a feature at the Orange County Fair Speedway Saturday night before current point leader Jeff Heotzler of Wallkill, NY put a stop to the streak in the nightcap
Hindley started second in The Howard Johnson Hotel/Artistic Floor Design 30 lap feature. This event was held over from June 15 after rain hit the speedway with 3 laps recorded. Taking the lead on a lap 4 restart Hindley went on to claim his 4th career big block win. polesitter Scott Goodrich was second with Bobby Albert III in his best finish of the year coming home 3rd. Defending champion Chuck McKee was 4th ahead of current point leader Jeff Heotzler.
In the regularly scheduled Barmann's Equipment 30 lap main, Jeff Heotzler became the first two time modified winner in 2002. Heotzler, aboard the Ed Zachary car, took the lead on a lap 10 restart and went on to post his 36th career win putting him in a 6th place tie with Sonny Strupp on the all time OCFS win list.
The 20 lap Tire Pro DIRT Sportsman feature was postponed due to the 12 AM curfew.
In Pro Stock action, Tom Dembek of Middletown, NY won his 3rd 14 lap Expert feature of the season and second in a row. Clark Bradford of Greenville, NY was victorious for the 2nd time this year in the 12 lap Rookie feature.
Jim Finnegan of Greenwood Lake, NY held on for his 2nd win in the Pure Stock main.
The first Pro Stock Dash For Cash of the season was sponsored by Barmann's Equipment. The 2nd place finishers in all the Pro Stock heats saw rookie class driver Dan Kelleher of Carmel, NY winning over Expert runner Bob McGannon. Eddie Walters, Sean Post, and Crissy Rider were next across the line.
Craig Westerfield of Fleishmann's NY won the second event in the Chet's Demolition Derby series. Johnny Hulse was second followed by Geraldo Hernandez, Alan D. Cote and Pat Hedges.
Saturday night's program starts with the held over DIRT Sportsman feature. That will be followed by a regular card of Modifieds, DIRT Sportsman, Pro Stocks, and Pure Stocks. Racing begins at the usual 6:30 pm starting time.
