TOM OLESKI SNAPS TWO YEAR VICTORY DROUGHT AT LAKE MOC-A-TEK

(Lakeville, Pa.) 062202 - Tom Oleski snapped a two year victory drought last

Saturday night as picked up the win in the 358 Modified feature last

Saturday night at the Lake Moc-A-Tek Speedway. The Sportsman division

saw a pair of new faces in victory lane as Jeff Geake won the held-over

feature from June 8th while Ricky Rutt won his first ever Lake Moc-A-Tek

feature in the regularly scheduled feature. Grant Hilfiger was also a

first time winner in the Street Stock ranks while Jon Walsh won his third

consecutive Pure Stock feature event. Ralph Utter Jr was the Micro

Sprint winner while Larry Ricci topped the Northeast Vintage Dirt

Modified Club's feature.

Oleski's victory came in dominating fashion as he led all 25 laps of

the feature event to pick up the win. Wheeling his familiar Trap's Speed

Shop sponsored #30+, Oleski grabbed the lead at the drop of the green

flag and proceeded to lead every lap of the feature event. Former track

champion Dom Roslli challenged Oleski over the second half of the event,

but Tom was able to keep the hard charging Roselli behind him. At the

finish it was Oleski managing to hold off Roselli, who finished second.

Barry White, Bill Reese, and Ed Strada Jr. completed the top five.

Positions six through ten went to Nick Barassi, Everett Haubrich, Alan

Kellogg, Joey Eisenhauer, and Gary Griffin.

Just as Oleski did in the 358 Modifieds, Ricky Rutt dominated the

regularly scheduled Sportsman feature to pick up his first ever Lake

Moc-A-Tek victory. Rutt held off the challenges of Sportsman rookie Mike

Loney to score the victory. Loney turned in his best open wheel finish

to date, crossing the line second ahead of another rookie Mike VanTassel,

whose third place finish was also his best Sportsman run to date. Troy

Moyer and Tom Gervsi completed the top five. Sixth through tenth place

finishers were Kevin Bates, Buddy Altemose, Alex Konopka, Archie Meyers,

and current point leader Joey Grammes respectively.

The Sportsman division also ran off a feature that was postponed

from June 8th. Jeff Geake scored his first ever Lake Moc-A-Tek victory

in that event. It was a hard-earned victory for Geake, who had to hold

off repeated challenges from Larry Hendershot to pick up a hard fought

victory. Hendershot settled for second ahead of Kevin Bates, Ricky Rutt,

and Tom Gervasi. Paul McCollum, Troy Moyer, Craig Whitmoyer, Joey

Grammes and Mike Loney completed the top ten.

The trend of first time winners continued in the Street Stock ranks

with Grant Hilfiger picking up his first Street Stock win. Hilfiger

utilized a bold move around the outside to sweep from third to the lead

on a late race restart, taking the lead that he would not relinquish the

rest of the way. Ed Kudrako tried to retake the lead, but could not find

a way past Hilfiger and settled for second at the finish. Brian Petrilak

finished third ahead of a fast-closing Phil Retter while Tom Cilurso

xrossed the line in fifth. Jerry VanTassel, Joe Krisovich, Carl Heater,

Jim Sykes, and David Luff comprised the second half of the top ten.

Jon Walsh continued his domination of Pure Stock action at Lake

Moc-A-Tek as he scored his third consecutive feature win. Gary Schoch

trailed Walsh across the line but could not mount a challenge for the top

spot. Jeff Simko was third ahead of Matt Payne and Jim Balutis. Ron

Blake made his first appearance of the 2002 season and finished sixth

with Keith Villano, Gary Druhl, Frank Bush, and Floyd Schmidt.

Ralph Utter Jr. came home the winner of the 250cc Micro Sprint

feature, his first victory lane visit of the 2002 season. Utter took the

win over Stephanie Stevens, who pressured Ralph all the way but could not

find a way past. Terry Schaffer recovered from an early race tangle to

finish third with Frank Venezia and Davie Franek rounding out the top

five. Rich McKay returned from a spectacular flip tow weeks ago to

finish sixth ahead of Todd Roberson, Geoff Quackenbush, Kevin Nolf, and

rookie Mike Pierre.

Larry Ricci drove the Art Parker owned "X" car to victory in the

Northeast Vintage Stock Car Club feature. The restored coupes and

coaches were a huge hit with the Lake Moc-A-Tek fans, so much so that the

club has been booked for a second appearance at Lake Moc-A-Tek on Labor

Day.

Saturday, June 29th finds the Sportsman division taking center stage

as they will be running Twin 20 lap features. This marks the first ever

Twin 20 show for the Sportsman at Lake Moc-A-Tek. The 358 Modifieds,

Street Stocks, Pure Stocks, and Micro Sprints will all be in action in

regular shows. Tauschman's Fabrications will sponsor this big night of

racing action.

The Lake Moc-A-Tek Speedway is located just off PA Rte 590
