SECOND OCFS CAREER WIN FOR KLINE: URC MAIN TO McGOUGH

Middletown, NY: It has been nearly six years since Bruce Kline of Bangor, Pa. won his last and only other Orange County Big Block feature. Saturday night, Kline parlayed an outside pole starting position in the Budweiser main event into a $2500 payday and his second trip to victory lane here.

The 30 lap feature got off to a rough start as Bud Christmann flipped on the homestretch off the initial start. Four ensuing restarts netted only four laps as Brett Hearn advanced from 20th to 5th. After lap 5, the race went non stop with Hearn advancing to second but unable to run down Kline. Ric Hill, Frank Jashembowski and Randy Sherlock completed the top five.

The United Racing Club made their only appearance of the season as Dave McGough of Sassamansville, Pa. won their 25 lap feature. McGough, who started on the pole, led all the way. He won the spring race here last season. Mike Haggenbottom, Greg Coverdale, Danny Massey and Chris Coyle rounded out the top five.

The 20 lap DIRT Sportsman feature was curtailed after 18 laps as excessive crashes and a limited time schedule forced track officials to call the event. Craig Mitchell of Wappingers Falls, NY picked up his second career win. mark Hufcut, Joe Dunay, Bobby Henstschel, and Rick Mill filled out the top five finishing positions.

The 14 lap Expert Pro Stock feature was taken by all time feature winner Tom Kuck of Mahopac, NY. It was his 42nd trip to victory lane at Orange County. Winning his first 10 lap Rookie feature was second year driver Bob Waters, Jr. of Stony Point, NY. Al D’Antonio of Highland Lakes, NJ remains undefeated in the Pure Stock division taking his 3rd straight 12 lap main event.

Racing returns Saturday night at 6:30 pm with a 358 modified and DIRT Sportsman feature held over from opening night. Afterwards, a full six division card will be run including the 358 modifieds. For information call the speedway at 845-342-2573.
