THE HURRICANE" 2 FOR 2 AT BLACK ROCK

DUNDEE, NY…The "Hurricane", Steve Paine has a perfect record at the Black Rock Speedway, as he picked up his second win in as many weeks in the 358 Modifieds last Friday night. Dave DuBois earned his first ever win the PPG Super-Stocks, and Steve Brace was the big winner in the Regional Pro-Trucks. In 4 Cyl. Stock racing, Karl Weichenthal, and Jack Ayres were victorious. Ray Speicher took the popular win in the Black Rock Bandits.

Steve Paine continued his winning ways last Friday night at the Black Rock Speedway in the 358 Modifieds. Tim Sebring took off for the early lead, but lap 2 saw the caution come out as Bryon Turner had broken a shock on the #11 Modified. On the re-start Sebring was racing with Charlie Donk for the top spot. Paine was on the move and was in sixth by the third lap. Donk continued to lead the event, as Sebring was now racing with John Moravec for second. Paine was now 4th as lap 6 was showing on the lap counter. Lap 10 saw a couple of yellow flags. One was for Ron White having a flat tire on the Pepsi Twist #5W. The second one was for Fran Hilton, Derrick Podsiadlo, and Ken Johnson coming together on the front straight. Donk led on the re-start with Paine in the second spot. Lap 12 saw Paine get by Donk for the lead in turn one. Paine pulled away, and went on to score his second win of the season. Donk held on for second, third was John Moravec; fourth was Alex Hoag, and Gill Tegg Jr. filled out the top five. Heats were won by, Brian Swarthout, Charlie Donk, and Tim Sebring.

Dave DuBois jumped out to the early lead in the PPG Super-Stock Feature event, and Bill Miller was right on his back bumper. But Dale Welty in his pink and black #1-2-3 was already in third place by lap three. On the next circuit Welty second and looking for more. 4 laps later Welty took over the top spot. At the half waypoint, it was Welty with the lead, Dave DuBois second, Bill Miller third, and Carl Cleveland fourth. Welty looked to be well on his way to another win, but with three laps to go, Welty went high on the front straight, and DuBois was going under him for the lead when the two made contact, then the rear axle broke on Welt's mount. Welty was done at that point, and DuBoise went on to score his first ever win in the division. Second was Rich Karlnoski, third went to Dave Fultz, fourth were, Bill Miller, and Carl Cleveland. Welty and Chris McCann took heats.

Steve Brace officially began defense of his track title in the Regional Pro Trucks last Friday night. He had a race long battle with Eddie Machuga, and Brace never took over the top spot until lap 17. Also on the same lap Serenity Sutherland stopped on the backstretch, and the leaders were coming at her in a hurry. Thanks to the one way radios and some great driving, everyone got around the stalled truck. Brace went on to score the big win. Second went to, Eddie Machuga third was Ron Divens, fourth went toTom Austin, and Don Divens filled up the top five. Heats were won by, Steve Brace, and Don Divens.
