VINSON, BRACHMANN, STEFANSKI, SAWYER, AND CONDREN CLAIM VICTORIES AT RANSOMVILLE
RANSOMVILLE, NY…June 15, 2001…Rich Vinson of Sanborn, NY waited eleven years but finally notched his first DIRT 358 Modified win at Ransomville Speedway last Friday on D.H. Cloy and Son night.. Vinson took the lead at the start of the Mighty Taco 358 Modified feature from his outside front row starting position and was never challenged. At times the lead was better than a full straight away as the veteran driver did the trick without any cautions in the 30 lap main.
Todd Burley of Spencerport, NY came from mid-pack to claim the second position on lap 16 but was unable to close the distance between himself and Vinson. Tim Murdock claimed his best feature finish of the season as he came home in third position. Pete Bicknell, who started near the back of the pack, took home fourth followed by Robbie Krull rounded out the top five. Danny Johnson was under the weather and could only muster a sixth place finish but was able to hold onto the points lead by 4 points over Bicknell. Vic Coffey claimed the seventh place finish and is currently 10 points back in third. Heat winners were Vinson and Sam Crogan.
The Queenston-Lewiston Duty Free Sportsman 20 lap event saw Chad Brachmann take the lead on turn 2 of the final lap to win his second of the season at Ransomville. Brachmann started deep in the pack and had the benefit of just one caution period to move through the pack.
Randy Chrysler ran in the top three for the majority of the race and finished a close second. Mark Schulz, who led nineteen laps, took home his best finish of his rookie season as he claimed third. Mark Potter finished in fourth followed by Dave Just. Brachmann is the current points lead as he defends his title from a year ago. Heat winners were Chrysler, Rob Kott, and Scott George.
The NAPA Prostock feature event was won by Joe Stefanski of North Tonawanda, NY. Stefanski took the lead with just two laps remaining from veteran driver Dan Shoop to claim his second of the season and extend his points lead.
Roger Chrysler and Eric Greenlief put on a great side by side race for the first five circuits before Greenlief claimed the top spot. By lap 5 Shoop was in the mix and took the lead from Greenlief on lap 8. Shoop held the lead until lap 18 when Stefanski made the pass for the win. Shoop came home in second followed by Dan Mayer, Pete Stefanski, and Jeff Martin. Heat winners were Martin, Shoop, and Mayer.
The Fish's Streetstock feature #1 was won by Jerry Condren of Youngstown, NY. Condren took the lead on lap 9 from Ben Hornquist to claim his second of the season. Hornquist held on for second followed by Mark Boyer, Kirk Tuttle, and Derek Smith.
The Fish's Streetstock feature #2 found Cory Sawyer take his first win of the season. Sawyer took the lead away from Joe Rickard on lap 11 of the 15 lap event. Rickard held on for second some three feet over Alex Morris. Bobby Clare and Eric Ben rounded out the top five. Heat winners were Sawyer, Dave Jowdy, and Tuttle.
