PETE BICKNELL, STEWART FRIESEN, SCOTT KERWIN, DAVE EATON, AND DEREK SMITH

COLLECT CHECKEREDS AT RANSOMVILLE

Pete Bicknell of St. Catharines, Ont took top honors for the second time this season aboard the Mighty Taco Modified feature event. Sponsored by Johnstons Restaurant and Dig Safely NY, Bicknell took the lead away from Mark Sylvies who held the top spot for twenty-seven of thirty go-rounds.

Mark Sylvies took the lead from his outside pole position at the drop of the green aboard the Mighty Taco Modified feature thirty lap event. Sylvies led the way through the mid-way portion of the event as Robbie Krull advanced to second. Vic Coffey was on the charge as he emerged into the top five. Contact between Coffey and Luke Carleton resulted in a six car mis-hap in turn one on lap 21. The restart found Sylvies maintain the top position as Krull tried to hold off Pete Bicknell for second. Bicknell took over the second position and moved in to challenge Sylvies on lap 26. Bicknell was able to make the pass on lap 27 for his second win of the season followed by Sylvies, Krull, Greg Panunte, and Ricky Richner.

Stewart Friesen of Niagara on the Lake, Ont took the lead away from Mark Schulz on lap 11 of the 25 lap DIRT Sportsman feature enroute to his second win of the season. Friesen started in the ninth position and didn’t waste any time as he advanced to the front and never looked back. Mark Schulz held on for second after leading a couple of go-rounds followed by Jeff McGinnis, Tony Purgarich, and John Hagerman. Heat winners were Purgarich and Schulz. Hotshoes Randy Chrysler, Kevin Wills, and Scott George were missing in action as they headed North to Oshwegan for a DIRT Sportsman Series event.

Pat McCoy of Newfane, NY jumped out to an early lead from his pole position aboard the Ransomville NAPA Pro Stocks. A four car battle between Dave Williams, Dan Shoop, John Panattoni, and Scott Kerwin un-folded as points leader Pete Stefanski lost the handle on the backstretch on lap 7 bringing out the caution. McCoy maintained the lead position on the restart as Kerwin took over the third position. Kerwin continued his charge to the front aboard his Johnny Cocco owned machine as he took second on lap 10 and moved in to challenge McCoy. Kerwin took over the top spot on lap 12 and quickly distanced himself from the remainder of the field taking his second win by a large margin. McCoy came home second followed by Dan Shoop, Dave Williams, and Dave Schulz. Points leader Stefanski had worked his way back up to second but had a tire go down with just 2 laps to go.

Derek Smith of Ransomville, NY took the lead away from Kirk Tuttle on a lap 13 restart of the first Fish’s Automotive Streetstock feature event and went on to capture his second win of the season. A caution with just two to go bunched up the field creating a two lap dash. Kirk Tuttle led the way back to green but slipped high in turn one. Smith took advantage of the mis-cue by Tuttle and grabbed the top position. Smith led the way to the checkered over Tuttle, Jeremy Wilson, Russ Olds, and Matt Gillingham who crossed the line doing a 360 on the front stretch. Heat wins went to Dave Eaton, Tim Herriven, and Dan Baughman.

The second Fish’s Automotive Streetstock feature went to Dave Eaton of Newfane, NY. Eaton took the lead at the drop of the green and then held off persistent challenges from Jerry Condren and Cory Sawyer for his second win of the season. Sawyer came home in second followed by Condren, Don Barnes, and Bobby Clare.
